Have you seen the video of the spoiled teen who has a meltdown after his parents give him a beat-up truck for his birthday?
(If this video is, in fact, real), I was completely shocked and disturbed watching this 16-year-old attack his birthday present with a baseball bat while yelling "You guys are gonna make me look like frickin' poor kid in front of all my friends."
Yikes!
Many moms in the Advice for Moms group had a similar reaction to the spoiled teen. But some commenters said that they weren't surprised—that ungrateful behavior is typical of many teens these days who think they are entitled to nice cars, cell phones, televisions, laptops, etc., not to mention the best food, clothing, shelter, etc.
Do you agree? What things—if any—does your teen think they are entitled to get?

I do think that a lot of people feel they are entitled to things. They only things you are entitled to in my house is food, shelter, love, and safety.
He should have the truck taken away and he can ride a bicycle around town. I agree with the posteer above about what you are entitled to.
wow what a spoiled kid , he should be happy to get a truck. He response is temper tantrum of the worst kind. I'm sure he feels entitled to stuff.
We butt heads a lot about entitled items...i.e. my kids are the only ones in the entire world that have to pay for their own cell phone bill - LOL - my kids are also the only ones in the world who did not get a car for their 16th birthday and while we let them borrow our cars, they must pay for their own gas & 1/2 of the additional insurance. We are very mean parents...LOL
My dd's friend once parked her brand new Mercedes on our street facing the wrong direction. When we asked her to move it before it was towed, she replied that her Dad always goes and gets it out for her when that happens & he doesn't mind....LOL
I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL I WAS 18 FOR MY FIRST CAR THAT WAS 15 YEARS OLD AND I HAD TO PAY FOR HALF OF IT...IT WAS A REAL JUNKER BUT LORD I WAS PROUD OF IT LOL B/C IT WAS MINE AND I WAS IMDEPENDENT...BUT THAT KID NEEDS A REALITY CHECK AND NEEDS TO LEARN WHEN TO BE GREATFUL
I'd have been happy to get anything with 4 wheels and an engine when I was 16! I had to wait til I was 18 and buy it myself!
I hope that isn't real. I hope, hope, hope...
That kid were be earning back the right to his SHOES if he were mine- not only would he not have a truck, I wouldn't allow him to ride anywhere in any vehicle- he could walk or take the bus. Sadly, if this is indeed real, his parents most likely played a large part in giving him the entitlement attitude- there is no way my parents would have stood idly by while I beat a car THEY paid for with a bat, lol, I shudder to think of even daring to think about such a thing.....
well look what is in the driveway..... lots of very expensive vehicles, including a hummer. kids learn what you teach them.
Holy Moley! That kid was a freakin' brat! If he were my kid II would have flipped out on him and not just stood there saying "oh my gosh". It really is amazing how many kids do have so many entitlement issues today!
