For years I was pretty proud of myself for using silver duct tape to hold together my car. But these high school prom-goers have found a much more creative purpose for this relentlessly sticky substance: They've used it to make prom dresses and tuxedos as part of the "Stuck at Prom" duct tape scholarship contest.
Here's how it works: Couples compete for a $3,000 scholarship by designing and creating prom dresses and prom tuxedos made completely out of duct tape. You can see all the participants and vote for your favorite entry at the official Stuck at Prom Web site until July 2. Winners will be announced on July 9.
Really, you've got to see the photos. These kids are so creative!

wow, that's amazing!
I had a friend that went a few years ago. The whole thing is awesome but really hot! It took us days to finish her dress but it was so much fun. Then we had to actually finish it while she wore it since it didn't have a zipper... Loads of fun though!
That's pretty freaking cool. I mean I honestly would not have thought that was made out of duct tape if you wouldn't have mentioned it, it looks like pleather or something.
so cool i might try this for halloween!
no my kids have never won a contest, but i have to tell that dress made out of duct tape is amazing. i just wonder how comfortable it was to wear.
This is a good idea. So many kids become superficial at Prom Time. Spending so much money on clothes, flowers, limos, things they wont ever use again. Giving these kids an oppurtunity to earn some money, enjoy their prom, and learn something will benefit them in the future. Good Job. Interesting Ideas. Their parents should be proud of them.
i went to a fashion high school and i can tell you some of the girls did this, i even piched in cutting the tape, lol. although i have to say this outfits are amazing!!!

that's not me but they were the girls that i helped =-D
A couple friends of mine did this back in 2001 for our Senior Prom. They were nowhere near as creative as these kids but it was still fun. Some of the costumes are amazing
