The official Great American Backyard Campout is this Saturday, but you and your family can pitch a tent in the yard any night during the summer. Here's everything you need to turn your backyard into an adventure-filled camp site...

- Tent (although some families prefer a camper, lean-to, or simply sleeping under the stars)
- Sleeping bags and pillows
- Flashlights or lanterns
- Cooking utensils
- Insect repellent
- Portable fire pit, camping stove, grill, or dry firewood and matches to make a campfire
Food
- Hot dogs
- Hamburgers
- Foil-wrapped recipes (diced potatoes or rice, ground meat, can of cream soup divided into individual foil-wrapped servings and cooked over the fire or stove)
- Trail mix
- S'Mores
Activities
- Cards or board games
- Ghost stories or songs around the campfire
- Fun with flashlights
- Looking at the stars

yes we camp out at my nephews back yard i grant you the yard is like a field, but every year the family has a big camp out there, we have a great time and the only thing we use the house for is for the bathroom , we all have our own dishes that we share, we have a huge bonfire , we have our own tents and all the teens have there own 2 we roast marshmallows everynight, we make smores, just a great time and close to home so we go and take showers, and let out the dog, its a must for everybody..
