Would you let your 8-year-old fly alone? CafeMoms are split on the issue, especially with recent reports of mix-ups on Continental Airlines, in which two young girls (each flying alone) were put on the wrong flights...
Taylor Williams, 8, flew out of Houston on Saturday morning and ended up in Fayetteville, Arkansas; she was supposed to fly to North Carolina to visit her father. The next day, 10-year-old Miriam Kamens found herself in New Jersey even though she was supposed to go to Boston to visit her grandparents. Both girls were safely returned to their families.
Many CafeMoms are not at all deterred by these incidents, reasoning that their children have been flying alone for years (some as young as 5) and have never had a problem.
But others say they are not comfortable putting their young children alone on airplanes and, moreover, don't believe their children would be comfortable traveling alone.
Finally, some moms think it depends on the maturity of the child.
What do you think? Do you let your children fly alone? How old are they?
