I know I do. We are finally in the last leg of kindergarten around here, and let me tell you, what a year it's been. I can remember the first day of school like it was yesterday. I'm not sure who was more anxious, my then 4 1/2 year old or me.
But then SHE opened the door.
Almost instantly, when Stephanie waved the lot of us nervous and excited parents and kids inside, I knew everything was going to be fine. What is it about good teachers that has a way of calming the soul? Is it their smiles? The firm, sweetness of their voices?
I'm a little late, but this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I never even knew such a thing existed but as far as I'm concerned, they deserve an appreciation month. My son's teacher, a woman who nurtures, protects, and shepherds twenty-two 5 and 6 year olds all day is a hero by any other name. Thank you, Stephanie! Off to get a Starbucks gift card.

I was very dissaponted when I found out my son was going to have a male teacher for kindergarten. I wanted someone who would be sensitive to my slightly immature little boy's needs and thought a woman would be best. Boy was I wrong! Mr. Cisek was the best, most caring, fair, encouraging teacher ever! My son and friends came out of kindergarten reading early chapter books (Magic Treehouse). Mr. Cisek still keeps in touch with many of his former students and many even invite him to their special events and sporting events. Poor guy is always busy because he can't bear to disappoint these kids who still look up to him. My son is now 11 and still loves Mr.Cisek!!
I love both of my kids' teachers. I got them both somethng small for everyday of this week. I mainly made items, found great poems online and had them laminated and then on the last day (today), I got them a small plant with some stickers for there classroom. Any teacher that can teach my kids how to read, how to love to read, how to love math and understand it is AWESOME in my book. Yay to Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Polt!
