Do Your Children Watch Grown-Up TV?

If so, you probably have a lot of company. But there's some sobering news out of Children's Hospital Boston about children who watch television programming for adults: as teens they have sex younger.

To me this is a relatively logical conclusion considering all the sexual imagery and innuendo TV holds. If I had to guess, I'd assume that in general, the kids exposed to certain themes and images early and regulary enough, will be the ones with ants in their pants once the hormones kick in.

But I personally know many mothers who feel that they are themselves a good enough counter to whatever inappropriate message their kids see on television. Many moms take the position of not "sheltering" their children from the world, rather they submerge them, so to speak, and explain the whats, whys and hows along the way.
