There is a controversy surrounding this movie however.
Prince Naveen, the dashing guy who eventually scoops the beautiful princess off of her feet, is apparently white. In response to this, some people are charging Disney with being uncomfortable with idea of a black prince, and by extension, "black love" to represent a fairy tale.
Talk more about it with other moms in the CM group ThePrincessandTheFrog!
Could that be possible? What do you think about Disney's decision not to have a black prince? Issue or non-issue?

I'm thrilled! My daughter is mixed (white & black) so it'll be nice for her to kinda see herself on tv for a change. Granted she's only 3 weeks old, but thinking about where this can take other races in Disney movies is amazing! I'm so excited!
I would not take it as such. I have no bias concerning this issue, however, we all need to look at it with an open mind. I hope that Disney will commit to every race being represented in their films. We must be positive in the hope that our children can learn from us. Unfortunately, Disney has changed so much over the years, that it has cut out a lot of what they originally stood for. This included equality. I hope that we all can inspire Disney to remember that every child of every race has fairytale dreams that they hope will, one day, come true.
I am still waiting to see a Hispanic Disney princess, but Go Disney for introducing an interracial Princess and Prince.
In a perfect world, we wouldn't even NOTICE what colour the prince or princess were. However, since we already know we don't live in a perfect world, I think it's nice to see an interracial couple. And 'Prince Naveen' sounds south asian to me... my dh is south asian and has a cousin named Naveen.
Isn't Naveen a middle eastern name? Or maybe he's supposed to be black muslim lol. Yeah I assumed her prince would be AA though....they look like my son and daughter together. LOL
I'm very excited about this for my daughter. I want her to know that relationships between different races is not an issue. Children need some kind of role models in their lives, in which, it will help them become better people as they growup.
i agree with everyone else its a non-issue, we cant wait to see it and i think the prince is middle eastern too. which is also cool!
See I wish we lived on Sesame Street every one is a different color and it makes a whit of a difference
I don't see no color. So whats the problem?
today's socicety place to much importance on outward apperances.
This story is geared towards children who do not see people as colors. I'm hoping Disney Imagineers are trying to bridge the racial gap.
People have to much time on there hands to get upset about such trival things.
You have a choice if you don't like what you see Here's a hint Don't Look!!!!
