Surviving birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese's is a mom rite-of-passage...isn't it? I mean sure, if I had my choice of restaurants I might choose a place with one or two fewer video games--and perhaps I'd pass on a mechanical over-sized mouse as entertainment--but when it's not my call, I bring my boys to birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese's with no hesitation.
Too bad for the popular family establishment that reports of adult fights at the kid places have escalated such that WallStreetJournal.com wrote a scathing piece about it. According to the report, in Brookfield, Wis., no restaurant has triggered more calls to the police department in 2008 than Chuck E. Cheese's. And that's not the only city to report adult violence at the pizza places.
From the story: It isn't clear exactly how often fights break out at Chuck E. Cheese's 538 locations. Richard Huston, executive vice president of marketing for the chain's parent company, CEC Entertainment Inc. of Irving, Texas, describes their occurrence as "atypical," saying he has heard of "four or five significant adult altercations" this year. But in some cities, law-enforcement officials say the number of disruptions at their local outlet is far higher than at nearby restaurants, and even many bars. "We've had some unfortunate and unusual altercations between adults at these locations," Mr. Huston says. "Even one is just way too many."
Have you ever witnessed adults misbehaving at child-friendly locations?

You mixed children, parties and alcohol..what do you expect?A bunch of stressed parents looking for a "relaxer".I think alchol should be removed from the menu.
I agree with Chrystal_A. There is no way that pitchers of beer belong in that environment (and I'm a beer enthusiast so that's really saying something).
You should have seen some of the parents at my softball games when I was a kid. They were CRAZY. I was pitching a triple header (yea, at 9 years old..) and by the third game my arm was tiring out. But our back up pitcher, who would take my place, had been stung by a wasp the previous game and ended up having to go to the hospital. SO the dad was yelling at my coach for the first 20 minutes. Saying things like "you better F*'ing win this game" "take that stupid f*ing kid off the field" he eventualy turned on me saying I better get some sense and walk off the field. At that time my parents returned from getting snacks and heard him. He turned on them sand said if I lose this game for his kid they better watch their backs. The police eventually showed up and took him away, and his kid was removed from the team.
I agree they shouldn't have alcohol on a menu at a place intend for children and family fun.
I didn't know they served alcohol at Chuck E Cheese that is weird. Why would you want to drink at a kids party any way? Weird stuff.
ANy adult who gets in a fight in front of children, unless it's to protect the kids, is pathetic.
Chuck E. Cheese serves beer? Seriously? That's not okay.
Why in the world is it ok for Chuck E Cheese to serve beer?! You wouldnt want to take your children to a bar on a Friday or Saturday night, why would you take them anywhere in the car when you are drinking?? Someone needs to rethink this....
We won't even take out kids there. At the one closest to us, there have been a couple of shootings and numerous gang fights. It's ridiculous and sad. No way they should be serving alcohol.
While they don't serve alcohol at our areas local Chuckie Cheese they do serve a bunch of obnoxious loud adults who think they own the place. I have seen said adults become aggressively posessive over an area they think is exclusively theirs! Like in front of the stage where the rat dances. I have seen adults yell at other peoples kids or cut in line for the sake of playing a stupid game, steal pizza from anothers table, steal the tickets the game machines spit out. How can this enviroment be fun? I personally had NEVER stepped foot into the place until I became a foster parent. I have nothing good to say about the place. ( I have made my pilgramage there3 times.) It is extermely overstimulating. A dangerous place to take a bunch of kids with ADD/ADHD! (I think I have crawled into the mind of an ADD/ADHD child when I walk thru the doors! )
I have seen altercations at 2 b-day parties at a public place (not chuckecheese), and they both involved the "real father" showing up at the parties. I am not sure about the details but both involved the police dept. One involved the step-dad and other dad arguiing.
