As parents, we like to think we have all the answers. But the truth is, sometimes we get into tough situations with our kids, and it's hard to know exactly what to do. When UK mom Zowiie Williams found out last week that her son was picking on a little girl at school, she knew she had to come up with a punishment that would teach him an important lesson about kindness. And the way she carried out that "punishment" has the entire Internet smiling.

In a now-viral post on Facebook, Williams shared a photo of her 6-year-old son, Callum, walking to school with a large bouquet of flowers. "Yesterday I was very disappointed to find out he [Callum] had upset his special little lady due to another boy telling him what he should say & do," she explains in her post. "Today he is marching into school with flowers and an apology."

Williams goes on to explain that Callum allowed other kids at school to influence him into hurting a girl's feelings -- something she says led to her and her son having "quite a good talk." In the end, she says, she decided he needed to bring the girl flowers and sincerely apologize for his actions because "it's our job as parents to make him understand how saying things out of anger & upset can make others feel."

Since her post went up, it's been shared over 5,000 times and hundreds of people have chimed in to praise her not only for taking her son's behavior seriously, but for teaching him the importance of owning his actions and making a proper apology.

More from CafeMom: This Mom Had the Best Response When Her Daughter Called Her Fat

Pretty much all parents are invested in teaching their kids to be kind, respectful, and responsible human beings, but sometimes it's easier said than done. Parenting doesn't come with an instruction manual, and it's not always obvious how best to convey important messages and values to our children.

Williams could easily have told her son his behavior was wrong, warned him not to do it again, and left it at that. And, maybe he would've listened, or maybe her warnings would've gone in one ear and out the other. Instead, she came up with a simple gesture that taught her son a meaningful lesson about the consequences of his actions and the importance of being responsible for how we treat the people around us.

No doubt her son will carry this lesson with him for a long time to come, and I'm willing to bet his classmates learned something too. Way to go, Mom.
