Parents Find 'Still With You' Note From 6-Year-Old Son Days After He Dies (PHOTO)

Amber and Tim Shoemake are dealing with something no parent should ever experience: the death of a child. Their 6-year-old son, Leland, recently passed away after battling a brain infection caused by an amoeba. Returning to their home for the first time since his death, the couple was shocked to find this thank-you note their son wrote before he died.

This poor little boy fought so hard to beat meningitis after spending several weeks inside a pediatric hospital in Atlanta.

Amber's post on the Prayers for Leland Facebook page recalls beautiful moments of her 6-year-old son, and this sweet gesture Leland made for his parents they will cherish forever.

What's the coincidence of finding something like this? Is anyone else at a loss for words?

This is Amber. This will be my only post on here for awhile. I was over protective of Leland and tried my best to keep...

It must be bittersweet to find this handwritten note from your son with "still with you" written on it. Sadly, there's nothing the Shoemakes can do to bring Leland back, but at least this can serve as a reminder that his presence will always be with them. Hopefully this discovery has helped to provide some sort of healing as they deal with the loss of their son.

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is an extremely tough blow to handle. The outpouring of love and prayers to this family -- along with the donations for Leland's hospital bills -- have been absolutely amazing. You don't always have to know someone to show them how much you care.

I truly hope this family receives the peace they need to help comfort their hearts.
