Kate Gosselin Will Beat Her Kids at All Costs

Kate GosselinWell, Kate Gosselin has managed to get her kids back on television, despite the displeasure of ex-husband Jon Gosselin. And if part one of the two-part Kate Plus 8 reunion special showed us anything, it's that the controversial reality star still has the ability to raise other parents' eyebrows. Take Kate's unusual thoughts on winning.

The mother of two teenagers and six 10-year-olds gets out and plays with her kids. We'll give her that. But what's a 39-year-old to do when she's facing the chance of a 10-year-old winning or losing a game?

Mama's gotta win.

Period.

Said Kate during the episode:

Hate away, but I've got a problem with parents who let their kids win because nobody is going to let me win. And while I'm saying doing your best, work your hardest, try your hardest, why am I then, in a fun game, letting her win?

You know, her argument isn't completely without merit, but it's the "nobody is going to let me win" part that is confusing.

Because the kids won't let mom win, she, in turn, makes a point to beat their butts?

How ... childish?

The fact is, kids do need lessons about achieving and not always getting their way. Kate is right on that.

But there's something to be said for having fun too, for just getting to be kids. The disappointments of the "real" world come crashing down on them soon enough. At 10 or even 13 (the age of Gosselin's twins), kids have the right to still be kids.

That means having fun. It also means being a little selfish and expecting your parents to sacrifice for you -- be it by "letting" you win a game or giving you the last cookie.

You don't have to let your kids win EVERY game. That's not fun for anyone. But then again neither is losing every single time.

And isn't that what we want our kids to remember? Having fun with us?

We can teach them the big important lessons elsewhere, but sometimes it's OK to just let kids be kids.

Do you ever let your kids win? How old were they when you stopped?

She is an extreme narcissist, has personality disorders to point of being certified mentally ill. Because people love a trainwreck she gets paid to exhibit her illness to anyone and everyone. Her poor kids I feel so sorry for them.

The part where she intentionally kicked the ball at Maddie/Cara's leg when she was already crying was just a huge wtf moment for me. Her twins are so obviously trying to reach out to her and she pushes them away. Or not. It's hard to tell what really happens when you have mass amounts of tv editing to sift through.

I don't watch the show, nor have I ever but based on this blog, I don't see anything wrong with not letting kids win. There is too much coddling, hand holding and participation trophies in this entitled generation.

Reading what she said was like reading gibberish. So, after reading the rest of this, I got it. I think her mouth must work before her brain can catch up. She just shouldn't speak anymore.

i am with her on this the world isnt going to just let you win anything you got to work for it i dont let my kids win they have to work for it so when they do win it is because they earned it not just handed to them they will never learn by parents letting them win without them working hard for it

I don't like Kate.I too feel like she's only using her children for fame and money. She can't do it on her own without them, Even after all the cosmetic surgery she had done to her many years back. Her children suffer from her narcissistic and immature ignorance. My heart really goes out to the children for not having either parents for a positive role model in their lives. Who says and does things like that to their children?

What kind of 13 y old kid throws crying tantrums like one of the twins kept doing during the entire episode? Good lord, talk about annoying. But.. she kept saying mom youre not listening to me over and over and over... The sad part isctyat at this age, shis still trying to have her mom listen to her. In few years, she wont give a rats butt.. Hopefully shes stopped her crying tantrums by then though. And whats up with her dragging two 13 y old kids to the younger kids dr appointments? They are old enough to stay home alone for an hour, let them breathe without their siblings or you.. Kate is so messed from the head, I wasnt planning on watching it but it was like a train wreck. You. Just. Cant. Look. Away.

I usually let my kids win every few games, whatever we are playing, it teaches them they have to work hard and it gives them a boost and desire to work harder when they do win.  Of course this is just what I think is best.  Even Kate Gosselin has the right to an opinion.  Women especially need to stop being so critical of eachother,  it hurts us all.
