The Worst School Names of All Time

weed highWhat's in a name? A lot, apparently. A Jacksonville, Florida school board is considering changing the name of its Nathan B Forrest High School because it was named after the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. I am sure, once upon a time, the folks whose children attended the school thought that was an awesome idea. Clearly it's time for a change. It's understandable that they would opt for something more politically correct. But this got us thinking about other educational institutions with unfortunate titles -- and boy are there a lot. Take a look at the 9 worst school names of all time.

What other awful school names have you heard of?

Weed High School is 20 minutes from me and for your information it has nothing to do with Weed!! The town was founded in the late 1800's as a lumber town and was named after its founder whose last name was Weed!! It is a very nice college town with an amazing view of Mt Shasta!!!

My mother was born in Weed.  I used to work in Weed...while we all in Siskiyou County know the town was named for a lumber baron, I'm sure we all know how people perceive the name.  Instead of changing the town name, many business are capitalizing on the innuendo.  There is a wonderful microbrewery in the area that makes a beer they call "legal Weed".  The Weed Bakery logo used to say "It's a name, not an ingredient".  Weed is a lovely town, we tolerate the chuckles then smile and move on.

I went to a school in an area notorious for drug use called O.D secondary school.  I also attended a school who's mascot was a Cowboy, and our rival school was the redskins.

I graduated from Weed High. Now as I recall the students were more into getting drunk every weekend. I'm sure there are about a billion pictures of the sign on the freeway saying "Weed Next 3 exits".
