Army Dad Surprises 9-Year-Old at Football Game Then Gets His Own Surprise in Return (VIDEO)

dad surprises son

If you aren't wearing waterproof mascara today, then you might want to be prepared for some serious smudging after watching this video of a 9-year-old being surprised by his dad at a football game.

Army Staff Sgt. Brandon Pickett had been in Afghanistan for nine months when he suddenly showed up on the football field to give his son, Jayce, the shock of his life. Initially, he planned on sneaking up behind Jayce and tossing the football to him, but the boy wound up catching a glimpse of him before he could carry out his little plan.

Take a look at the clip to see what happened next.

OMG! Did you immediately start crying after hearing that precious little boy sob? (I couldn't stop the tears from welling up.)

But my favorite part of the whole thing is how quickly he composed himself -- and then ran straight back out onto the field to give the game his all. Don't you love how he sacked the quarterback in the very next play?

It's almost like knowing that his daddy was home gave him an extra boost of confidence to go out there and play his little heart out. (Love it.) Sgt. Pickett must have been so proud -- and so shocked that his son was able to get back into the game after such an emotional reunion.

Sigh. I don't care how many of these things I watch -- they never get old, and they get me every single time.

Did this reunion touch your heart?

The video didn't work. I found on YouTube but mate it was the wrong clip. It was the reunion but then they showed the kickoff and there was no sacking of the quarterback.

Stupid me watching that while this pregnant  :/ As a veteran AND wife of a disabled vet, that just hits home too much and now I'm sitting here crying like a baby. Not too mention our own child that age plays football. What a sweet video!

These stories ALWAYS warms my heart. I cry every single time. Thank-you to the Military men and women that protect us. I pray to see more of these stories. God Bless them ALL!

People have no idea what these Army kids go through on a daily/yearly basis with their parents serving this county. Deployments are hard on their emotional well being! It's stressful for these young people. These scenes of seeing their parent again after months of being gone are priceless. We need to continue to support our military families in anyway we can!! Thank you to the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country and for freedom, as well as their families! Always remember them in your prayers at night

The video would have been better if you could actually hear over that putrid music.  That was the most whiny song ever.

It reminds me of when our son came home from the Gulf War. Both his father and I both cried - it was so good to see him.

LOVED IT!! Yes, I cried! Most of these types of stories do that to me. I just wanted to hug that little kid harder when I heard him cry. That's when the flood started. SMH!The military is VERY important to me and I love them all! My husband is a vet and I'm very proud. Two thumbs up!!
