The 'Greatest Show on Earth' got even greater last week for a 10-year-old girl in San Antonio. McKenley, whose parents don't want her last name used, was attending the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus on the 4th of July, when she was chosen to be the ringmaster.
She was pretty laid-back about the job, and she did it without wavering. That all changed, however, when a special announcement was made, and her father, who had been deployed in Afghanistan for the past year, walked into the ring and gave her the surprise of her life. The other circus performers had no chance of competing with what happened next.
Talk about a great patriotic show on such a significant day. I can't imagine there were many dry eyes in the crowd. No matter how many of these military homecoming videos I see, I'm always rocked with emotion by the sacrifices these families make. Seeing them finally coming together after such a long time apart is always moving, and the surprise reunions seem to get more and more elaborate, which is understandable. As McKenley's father, Ken, explained:
After everything I’ve done and everything we do for the country, and the sacrifices that she and my wife make, to be able to give that moment to her is just amazing.
Do these military reunion videos get you every time like they do me?
