The Lego MovieIs your kid into Legos? Like, really, really into Legos? If so, he or she is going to be incredibly excited to hear that Warner Bros. has created The Lego Movie, an upcoming animated film based on the popular building blocks. Written and directed by the folks behind Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the film's described as the "first-ever, full-length theatrical Lego adventure" -- and the good news is that it looks like one of those rare family movies that's as entertaining for adults as it is for kids.

The bad news? Well, the first official teaser trailer hit the web yesterday, and it's probably the first two-minute video clip capable of RUINING YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.

Okay, not really. But here's the problem: it's a really fun trailer, and if your kids are anything like mine, they'll watch it and totally lose their minds with joy. "IS THAT THE GREEN NINJA?" they'll shout, their eyes transformed into little deranged spirals thanks to the evil bastards at Lego who somehow trumped up so much demand for a 1.5" minifig I actually paid more than $20 for the goddamned thing. "IS THAT BATMAN? THIS LOOKS AWESOME WHEN CAN WE SEE IT CAN WE GO FRIDAY CAN WE CAN WE CAN WE?"

And no they cannot, because guess what? This film, which is essentially a giant swirling double helix of merchandising triggers into which you may as well just empty your entire bank account now, doesn't come out until 2014.

HA HA HA HAAAA GOOD ONE LEGO. You assholes.

Here's the clip, which you should totally avoid showing your children at all costs:

It actually looks pretty cool, right? Lots of recognizable voices in The Lego Movie, including Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Elizabath Banks, and Will Arnett (as Batman, natch). I'm sure it will an enjoyable movie to take the kids to. You know, MANY, MANY MONTHS FROM NOW. Since it comes out next FEBRUARY.

Don't make the same mistake I did, people. My boys have already asked to see the trailer four times this morning. They're going to be like conspiracy theorists poring over the Zapruder film, I can tell already. ("WAS THAT A LEGO SHARK AT 1:04 OMG PLAY IT AGAIN!!!!")

What do you think of The Lego Movie trailer? You didn't show it to your children, did you? DID YOU?
