11 Simple Things Moms Do Daily to Keep Their Kids Safe (PHOTOS)

And I'm not even talking about big things, necessarily. Keeping our children protected applies to something as seemingly insignificant as making sure to put sunscreen on them every day. It's an easy thing to forget to do, but considering we could possibly contribute to our kids getting skin cancer down the road, we have to make it a point to squeeze those extra few minutes into our already busy routines.

We may not even realize we're doing them, but there are quite a few other safety "rituals" moms implement -- some of them on a daily basis, to keep our little ones safe and sound.

Check out these photos to see 11 simple things moms do regularly to make our kids' safety a priority.

How many times have you yelled, "Don't forget your helmet!" before your child hops on his bike? Too many to count, I'm sure.

Would you ever for one second even dream of not strapping your kid into his car seat? (Didn't think so.)

Why do we make our kiddos wash their hands before meals and after using the restroom? To keep them safe from germs, of course.

  • Acting as Lifeguards

Making sure our kids have on floaties if they can't swim yet, putting them in swim lessons, and watching them like a hawk near water is a no-brainer.

  • Don't Forget to Zip Up!

Let me guess, in the winter months, your kid doesn't even make it downstairs before you're reminding him to bundle up in a heavy coat, gloves, hat, scarf -- the whole nine yards so he doesn't wind up frostbitten.

  • Flu Shots

Yes -- they absolutely dread it, but we still drag our kids to the doctor to get their flu shots every season.

  • Hold Hands & Look Both Ways!

Reminding kids how to cross the street safely comes out of our mouths without even having to think about it.

  • Never Leaving Kids Unattended

Think about the lengths moms go to and how much we juggle to make sure there's always someone at home to supervise our children when we can't be there!

  • Check-up Time!

Even though we probably don't see regular dentist and doctor visits as a safety thing, they do play a huge part in our kids' well being, which is directly related to their safety.

  • Never Talk to Strangers

They've heard it so many times they probably can't stand it anymore, but let's be honest -- you can never remind your kids often enough who they should and should not talk to in public.

  • Making Home Safety a Priority

The simple act of regularly changing the batteries in our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors could be a matter of life and death for our family.
