12 Things Kids Love But Parents Can't Stand

things kids loveI have been a parent for almost eight years now, and some days I feel like I know as little as I did way back in 2005 when I was still waiting for my baby to arrive. But there's one thing I know for sure. Kids are WEIRD.

My kid. Your kid. All kids!

There's an equal opportunity state of strangeness that exists for the four-foot-tall and under set.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Just consider some of the things kids can't get enough of ... but we adults just barely tolerate.

Boogers. Rocks. Those rounds blobs of indeterminate flavor otherwise known as gumballs.

All are evidence that kids are some of the oddest creatures on the planet. And yet we love them anyway.

Behold the wild and weird that curries favor with the kids and mystifies adults.

What are your kids obsessed with that you just don't get?

Screaming! Why do they like to hear how high they can screech...in the damn house!

My 3 YO son had this really weird obsession with bark mulch. He loves the stuff; I find it in his pockets, his shoes, his underwear...because that totally makes sense.

Sandboxes.  Washing sand out of a curly-haired three year old is a special form of torture.  We're going to the beach this weekend and while I'm looking forward to it, I'm dreading the sand baths to come.

I love rocks! And stuffed animals, too. Not as much as rocks though...

I remember eating uncooked hot dogs!I haven't touched a hot dog in over 4 decades don't know how the hell I ate those gawd awful things.

Love this! Though I still love rocks. I thought my kids were the only ones who loved frozen waffles....frozen. Don't forget about random weeds and dandelions they love picking for you because they are so beautiful :)

I still like rocks and stickers. And while I'm not big on baby bottle pops, I do like the lik-m-aid sticks wit powdered sugar...

I still love all of them except for 7...thats just nasty. Parents need to learn to still have some of that childhood wonder and not be so dead set on being a 'grown up'. Dont be such a stick in the mud and enjoy the silly things in life

None of these things are favorites of mine but if these are the problems we face as parents... we're lucky!
