Emily Maynard Defends Stay-at-Home Moms in Twitter Squabble

Mom Moment 7

Emily Maynard motherOkay, I'll admit it -- I'm totally fascinated by Emily Maynard. Between her endless shopping trips and relaxing vacations -- that girl just has the life, doesn't she? Well, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so.

A Twitter follower recently questioned Em on her income, claiming she's always photographed traveling or shopping, to which the reality star quickly defended herself: "I wish this were true! Unfortunately no one is at my house taking pics of me cleaning toilets."

The follower pushed the question again, unsatisfied with Emily's response and questioned: "What? Someone pays you to clean your own toilets? I'm talking about a job, your livelihood, money you earn?"

So rude, right? Well, don't worry -- Emily's response definitely puts this Twitter banter to rest. Someone call the vet because we're ready for a cat fight.

The Bachelorette star replied:

There are stay at home moms all over the world. I'm certainly not the only one. Not sure why this would be any of your business?

She's right -- it's none of anybody's business. (But it's kind of public knowledge that Emily was the highest paid Bachelorette in history. Not to mention her late fiance, Ricky Hendrick, was reportedly worth $15 million at the time of his death. But that's neither here nor there ...)

Aside from all of that, since when does being a stay-at-home mother mean you can't travel, shop, and look hot? Who's to say you can't do it all? I say more power to Emily for being able to juggle being a single mother on top of everything else she's got going on.

That being said ... if she's worth as much as people say she's worth, I'm going to have to guess she hires someone else to clean those toilets. Just sayin'!

Are you a stay-at-home mom? How do you feel about it?

I'm SAHM too and I feel great about it! It's what's best for MY family. My husband has a very demanding job that requires him to travel quite a bit and since we can afford it, I stay home with the kids. I also shop at target but we budget our money very carefully. No vacations for us in the near future but that's ok. Each woman makes the right decision for their own family. I think people are jealous of Emily because she is not working and still has money. I'm sure she would rather her fiancé Ricky be here anyday over the life she has now. Even if that meant she had less money.

Why don't all leave Emily alone, it really is none of your business. Would you like if a whole bunch of people try to get info. about you and your private life? Well, I thought no!

I'm a SAHM. I put on makeup most days. I'm sure that if the only time a certain kind of person saw me was when I was shopping, they'd think that's all I do, because some people see us through their own eyes and experiences only. One of my neighbors only sees me checking the mail or taking my kid for a walk. I'm pretty sure she doesn't think that's all I do, but who knows?

I'm a SAHM and would love to have a chunk of money to spend and travel with. What fun! I could get a nanny to help with everything, take my family around the world, hire a housekeeper, get a personal trainer and hair/makeup person. But alas, I'm a Costco, Target, minivan mom who goes to the el cheapo gym. I do love my life though and am doing what's best for my family. We're all just jealous that we don't have her bank account. But good for her: she lucked out in that department. But she's not as lucky in love. So be happy with what you have and choose your battles, people!
