Things ALL Moms Should be Thankful for This Season

With Thanksgiving coming up, it's hard not to start to feel the pressure of the rest of the holidays looming ahead. I know this because I can't stop feeling it myself. But Thanksgiving isn't supposed to be about pressure or stress or "can I buy my kid the best toy on the market." No.

Thanksgiving is a day in which we should ALL think about the things we're thankful for. I plan to do just that. In that vein, this is what I am thankful for this year.

1) Healthy children - while that may sound trite and obvious, my daughter was born with a nearly-always fatal birth defect called an encephalocele. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not thankful she's a medical miracle.

2) School - I know, I know, I'm not supposed to be thankful that my kids are separated from me for hours at a time, but honestly, school means that they get what they need in terms of learning, socializing and being busy while I can lay on the couch eating Ho-Ho's (read: working).

3) Inlaws - doesn't matter if you love them or hate them, if you're going to your in-laws for Thanksgiving, it means that YOU don't have to cook NOR do you have to clean. THAT is something to be thankful for.

4) Being Able To Show Off Those Impractical Kids Clothing - we all love to dress our kids up. Problem is, the kids don't always have a place to wear their fancy duds, which means the holidays are it. So dress 'em up, take tons of embarrassing pictures, and let others admire how adorable they look.

5) Naptime - if your kids are still taking naps, I'm jealous of you (not particularly THANKFUL, I know). That's some of the best time of the day to quickly get stuff done around the house, take a rest, or pee in private. Now that IS something to be thankful for.

What are YOU thankful for this Thanksgiving?
