Bullied Boy's Heartbreaking Message Is One All Kids Should See (VIDEO)

Heartbreaking 74

bullied boyWe can try and teach our kids to be kind to others and preach the messages about why bullying is wrong, and hope that they absorb them. But sometimes our messages fall on deaf ears, and it takes something more powerful -- like a message from one of their peers -- to really get through to them.

The brave boy in this video, identified only as Ricky, made this video in which through a serious of handwritten messages he tells how much kids' cruelty affects him at school. He says he feels like "he needs to be someone else" so that people will like him when all he wants to be is himself.  He also gives an example of how he was taunted even on National Suicide Awareness Day.

The sad thing is that there are thousands of kids out there like him feeling like this each and every day. No one is going to be liked by everyone, and there's a certain amount of kids-will-be-kids teasing that will never go away, but when kids are hurting this badly, something is wrong. Something must be done.

Good for Ricky for expressing himself like this. Hopefully his message will let others know they're not alone, and that other kids will see it and realize just how much their actions can hurt others.

In what ways do you try to prevent your children from becoming bullies? Do you worry more about them getting bullied or becoming a bully?

Yes, girls are vicious and stupid.  My heart breaks for this kid.  I was just thinking today about how hard it is to go out that door to school - are you wearing the "right" thing?  Are you going to say something stupid that will be laughed at?  Do your glasses make you look like a dork?

I had already graduated when my sister got to high school.  She recently talked about how she had no friends in school - none.  She was chunky, we didn't have the money for the "right" clothes, no one - I mean, no one - would talk to her.  She ate lunch alone - every day - for three years.  She described doing her hair for school pictures and trying to make herself pretty - and  for what?  So the skinny bitches could make fun of her "ugly" dress and her "scraggly" hair.

It's one thing if you're picked on and you have your own group to surround you and say it's OK, but what about those who have no one?  She is a success today; she overcame all of that, but I know deep down she still thinks about the ugly things said to her in school - 25 years later.

Why is it that kids are (usually) so sweet and inclusive up to about 3rd grade and then they change into the most awful litlte monsters? What happens in the brain to make people attack each other? So what if someone isn't "dressed right" or looks stupid to you? Why do you need to be the one that puts them up for ridicule? And the herd mentality goes along - it takes someone very special to stand up for the bullied. There are too few of those special people.

I don't see anything wrong with the way he wrote "love" on his wrist...this kid is truly someone special and it takes a lot of guts to make a video like this and express his feelings in such a pubic manner.  I admire him and hope he makes a difference in other bullied kids' lives...

I think the current anti bullying campaigns are going to be as effective as the anti drug campaigns of the 80's. You remeber the ones, the popular kids would have a Dare to say no presentation then go hit the homemade bong in their cars at lunch. Well that was how it was at my school at least.

I would love for people to figure out how to stop bullying but as long as some kids are haves and others are have nots, you are going to have kids making other kids hurt.

My daughter was bullied in 2nd grade, but Thank God we don't have that to worry about now and have not had any problems in the last few years! But on the other hand, I have a good friend of mine and her 8 year old son that is a special needs child, which dont make it any different. But he is in the primary school well he had been bullied for some time now and the school knew about it, well about a week ago about 10- 15 bullys hung him in the boys bathroom by the back of his shirt on the hook on the back of the stale door. God was great that day, another child walked in and found him before it was to late and he went to get help for him. This is all caused by bulling! This has really got out of hand for kids that age bulling kids and hanging them. Things could have went way different, if the school had took action on the kids that was bulling him 3 weeks before they hung him by the back of his shirt!!

I am in tears for this child. I want to give him a huge hug and tell him he DOES belong. Everyone belongs!!

I hate that the world is like this. It scares me for my boys.

It's really sad that some kids feel this way.  Kids can be cruel and unfortunately no one can make people be accepting and kind to everyone.  I swear at least 80% of the people on my fb have the saying "be the change you wish to see in the world" as their personal motto and yet just about everyone of them make judging, rude comments on their news feed.  I would love to call them out on it but the truth of the matter is, it won't change anything.  Parents need to install high self esteem in their kids so they can learn to just roll with it if someone else doesn't want to be their friend.

I just want to give this kid a hug. He was so brave putting himself out there like that knowing he'll get made fun of for it, but the sadness on his face killed me. I started crying before the video started. I hope things turn out better for Ricky. No kid should feel worthless by anyone. Kids should only feel loved and wanted too bad we don't live in a perfect world.

I'd like to tell him that it gets easier, but having been an outsider all of my life I'm just not able to. I can say that it gets easier to divert your attention away from beating yourself, if you work on looking for things that you enjoy doing.
