Talk about low. Joy Behar, co-host of The View, recently went way too far in an attack on 6-year-old Alana Thompson, star of the new hit show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
There's certainly a lot to, uh ... digest when it comes to the show. I'm not sure whether people are fascinated by the family because it's so close to reality (or a reality they fear) for many, or because people just want to trash them to make them feel better about their own lives. Whatever the reason, people have plenty to say and can't look away. Behar, however, took the banter to a whole new level when she attacked the girl's weight and predicted a big fat future for her.
While the family's junk food habits are without a doubt concerning, Behar went after her with such venom, it went beyond just being trashy to being downright mean.
What’s little Honey Boo Boo going to grow up to be? That’s what I want to know? She’s going to be a fat kid; she’s going to grow up to be a big fat woman. She is, I can tell. She’s just a kid, but you see the genetics are right there. She’s going to have large boob boobs -- Honey Boobs Boobs.
Thanks Joy, you just gave all the kids on the playground some new ammunition against a little girl. And we wonder why there are so many bullies today with role models like that. I get that she's supposedly a comedienne, but that's far from funny and shows what a classless act she is.

No, eating family-size bags of chips and drinking "Go-Go-Juice" (Red Bull and Mountain Dew) aren't the foundation of a healthy diet. And yes, it does appear that Honey Boo Boo may have some weight challenges ahead of her if things don't change, but Behar calling her names and condemning her to a bleak future isn't going to help. Shame on her. Honey Boo Boo may need help battling weight gain, but she doesn't need hate.
Do you think Joy Behar went too far in her attack on Honey Boo Boo and her weight? Has anyone ever attacked your child over his or her weight?

I would never attack a child about his or her weight.. I might talk to the parents... but dont attack a child
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDDS3ioa8og Yuuuup. Pretty much exactly.
I can't believe anyone thinks it is alright for a grown woman to talk about a child like that on national television. She didn't even just state that she is over weight(which is obvious and does not even need to be said as anyone that is not blind can see that). Just because you have thought does not mean that you need to share that thought, especially with an entire tv audience. For all that woman knows, this exposure to the entire world could be the turning point for this family and finally force them to really look at their health. The child knows her entire family is overweight. She stated so. Also, in my opinion, it is absolutely pathetic that some people claim to feel better about themselves because at least they aren't like this family. The only person you should compare yourself to, is the you in the past. We all face different obstacles in life. And another thing, perhaps if more shows like the view started talking about real issues, more positive changes would be made in our world.
If she keeps up her habits she is going to be over weight into adult hood. That's just reality. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at the mom. Her parenting sucks.
All she did was say what everybody else was thinking. I personally think the whole family is white trash. That little girl may be winning titles now but what happens in a couple of years when it isn't cute to be chubby anymore and she quits winning all of these titles. Her mother needs to do something now about BooBoo's eating habits so it doesn't grow into adulthood. That little girl is 6 years old and out weighs my 9 year old, my opinion is there is something wrong with that, and momma needs to step up and take care of her family instead of worring about cutting out coupons!!!
Joy Behar is one of hte most hate-filled persons who have ever been on TV. She is the type of person who feels powerful by saying mean-spirited, hurtful things. She isn't funny or sarcastic, she is just mean. So what if this child is a bit chunky now - lots of celebs and successful people have battled weight issues and won. The big question for me - WHY does anyone ever listen to Joy Behar???
