Talk about low. Joy Behar, co-host of The View, recently went way too far in an attack on 6-year-old Alana Thompson, star of the new hit show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
There's certainly a lot to, uh ... digest when it comes to the show. I'm not sure whether people are fascinated by the family because it's so close to reality (or a reality they fear) for many, or because people just want to trash them to make them feel better about their own lives. Whatever the reason, people have plenty to say and can't look away. Behar, however, took the banter to a whole new level when she attacked the girl's weight and predicted a big fat future for her.
While the family's junk food habits are without a doubt concerning, Behar went after her with such venom, it went beyond just being trashy to being downright mean.
What’s little Honey Boo Boo going to grow up to be? That’s what I want to know? She’s going to be a fat kid; she’s going to grow up to be a big fat woman. She is, I can tell. She’s just a kid, but you see the genetics are right there. She’s going to have large boob boobs -- Honey Boobs Boobs.
Thanks Joy, you just gave all the kids on the playground some new ammunition against a little girl. And we wonder why there are so many bullies today with role models like that. I get that she's supposedly a comedienne, but that's far from funny and shows what a classless act she is.

No, eating family-size bags of chips and drinking "Go-Go-Juice" (Red Bull and Mountain Dew) aren't the foundation of a healthy diet. And yes, it does appear that Honey Boo Boo may have some weight challenges ahead of her if things don't change, but Behar calling her names and condemning her to a bleak future isn't going to help. Shame on her. Honey Boo Boo may need help battling weight gain, but she doesn't need hate.
Do you think Joy Behar went too far in her attack on Honey Boo Boo and her weight? Has anyone ever attacked your child over his or her weight?

maybe joy is jeloues lol... it is very redicules that boo boo don't have the right diet she is so going to get made fun of teased and bullied at school or get stared at laughed etc... and it's because of her mother not giving a shit what her daughter eats and when she eats or how much and of course the mom won't mind a bit doing a reality show cause she gets money for it that's all she cares about is the MONEY so she can get more food to make her fatter as well as her daughter
oh and i forgot to say when u make fun of somebody being fat ur going to get fat and or fatter
I dont think its fair for someone to try to predict the future. How can she possibly know whats going to happen to that girl and their family. How does she know that the family wont make strides to change their diet?? I think a grown woman, who picks on a little girl is digusting, and classless.
We all know that the family could use some change in things.. but do we really need to attack the smallest member on tv? Stupidity at its finest.
I detest joy blabbermouth, always have always will.
While I don't agree with the show or life style, Joy was crude. Boobs may be a common topic for her to discuss, but to discuss a child's future physical attributes in a mocking way was extremely insensitive and a form of sexual harrassment. Very inappropriate. If she had said something like that about one of her cohosts there would have been consquences.
While the child may be overweight, I don't feel it's necessary to call her name. For starters, it is the parents' job to show this child how to eat properly and maintain a healthy weight. It's not the child's fault, at this point, that she is overweight. I don't think that Ms. Behar should be attacking the child--and then have the nerve to call it comedy. So NOT comedy! It's just unnecessary and unkind to treat a child that way. And just because she didn't say it to her face, doesn't mean that the child didn't hear the comments and wasn't affected by them. Bad business, Joy Behar!!!!
