Mortifying Mom Storms Onto Ice During Son's Hockey Game to Break Up Fight (VIDEO)

I am disappointed that any mother would waver at the thought of interfering in the pummeling of her own son for any reason. Does this author really worry her son will be embarrassed and that will be enough to override her instincts?

Buffy, if this boys mother, and/or her son, are worried that he MAY take a "pummeling" during a game of hockey, then he needs to find another sport to play, because seriously, there's really no "may" about it ;)

How do you know this kid would be embarrassed. He could have been thinking "you go Mom' the dumb ass refs aren't doing anything. I would be the Mom on the ice. Hockey, might be a rough sport for the professionals, but should not seep into the school games. High school sports are there to teach team work, good sportsmanship, how to get along with others and to make leaders. Knocking out teeth, does not fall into any of those categories, or breaking ribs or bashing in the heads. Just like they are now questioning the concussions cause by playing football, so should the rough stuff be questioned in hockey. Oh, I know there are going to be people out there defending the fighting. But have they ever received a concussion that was life changing. No!  Then stop defending something you have not experienced. It is a parent's duty to protect their child. This Mother, trusted the ref's to do that. At least one of them, failed to do their job. So the Mom, stepped in to do the job that was left vacant by the blood thirsty ref. Before, you start blasting me. Think, how your kid would feel in that situation? If it was a cop, it would have been called police brutality.

As a parent of a child who plays hockey... this fight should have never happened... it according to USA hockey rules is not allowed till after school age... but the checking is allowed after a specific age... for those complaining about the fighting... oh well dont watch the game and dont let your child play it either... its part of it.

Really? If I was him I'd rather be embarrassed than be beaten to a pulp... just sayin'.

It cracks me up how the media will publish something like this which only embarrasses the kid more and makes the video go viral.

Leave to this outlet to dig deepest for the worst shit news and then complain how someone else embarrassed the person when it's the media making it available to anyone who wasn't there!!

As someone who coached, was a parent of hockey kids, played all the way to the olympic level and most importantly reffed for many years from little mites all the way to the mens league. There is fighting. As a ref, especially someone who DOES NOT do that for there sole source of income, they are under NO obligation to interfer in a fight, especially when there are multiple players involved, which there was. If it's only two player then yes they will try to intervene. This is mostly for the refs safety. For anyone who has ever played hockey long enough you know fights do not last long. You wear out very quickly. This is way refs are taught to stand back and take note of numbers when multiple players are involved. They run out of steam very quickly, as they did in this video. One last thing, it was much more dangerous for that women to go WALKING on to the ice then ANY of those boys were in. There are actually rules against ANYONE going on to the ice for any reasonn including injuries and that team can be heavily penalized. Parents can go on to the ice if their kid is hurt bad enough but ONLY when they are told by the ref. I wouldn't doubt if this poor boy quits that team from the humiliation his mother has caused.

Fighting is part of hockey, period!  This mom needs to be banned for all of her son's game in the future.  My high school team got into a number of fights much more intense than this.  Do you all rush out onto the field when your kid is tackled in football too?
