With all of the horrific stories that we've seen this week from the face eating man to random killing sprees, here's one that is full of nothing but pure goodness. It's a tearjerker for sure, but only in the best possible way.
In the video, we see Matt, a boy who has spastic cerebral palsy, which clearly makes it difficult for him to walk, much less run. Still, despite his limitations, he chooses to participate in his elementary school's field day. The determination and sheer will he shows while running are moving enough, but as the video continues, it becomes one of the most spontaneously beautiful displays of human goodness I've seen in a long time.
After about a minute, you see Mr. Blaine, the gym teacher (who is identified as one of Matt's "best friends"), join him on his laps. His fellow classmates are still running, and there are lots of cheers for Matt. You can see how difficult it is for him, but he keeps going.
Then before you know it, all of his classmates stop what they're doing and fall in line behind and beside Matt. They start chanting and clapping, "Let's go, Matt. Let's go!" and run with him all the way to the finish line. When he's finished, he receives pure and heartfelt hugs and congratulations from this amazing group of kids. Watch for yourself, but be sure to grab some tissues first.
It's inspirational on so many levels. From these amazing kids who showed such great compassion and empathy to Matt's determination, it's a story that should be shared and celebrated because this is what the world needs to see more of.
What's the most spontaneous act of kindness you've seen from your children? Are you in love with this video?

This is beautiful! I wish CafeMom focused more on posts like this.
im with you flordiamom96 it would be nice if they did. and to matt way to go buddy
I think we have more people like this than we know, partly because so few stories like this are featured on sites like this.
It is wonderful to see the determination and perseverance of this young man, his parents willingness to allow him to attempt something challenging and the love of his classmates.
I am balling my eyes out. LOVE this! And I agree with the others, I'd like to see more posts like this. I actually got so depressed from reading all the terrible stories they put on msnbc.com I went on google and typed in happy news about a year ago. I found happynews.com. You should all check it out :) It's sad that it doesn't get updated as often as other news sites.
The genuine compassion and true inspiration is beautiful!
