So you think keeping a family in clean underwear, socks and clothes is a challenge? Wait until you see Irene's life.
She's the wardrobe supervisor for Mamma Mia! on Broadway, and it's her job to make sure every piece of every costume is clean, organized, and ready to be tugged on by the actors and their dressers in seconds between scenes.
I especially loved that Irene is incredibly organized at work, but at home? The way she tells it, not so much. Everything at work is down to a science, but she says if her husband didn't remind her of all the various details of family life she'd be dropping the ball all over the place. Isn't that the case for so many of us?
It's funny how you can be one way at work: organized, patient, on top of everything, calm...and a totally different way at home. Or, on the other hand, it's amazing how having kids can change your whole work style. I am well known for rushing in at the last possible minute to every office job I have ever had (nothing like scooting past the big boss on your way to your 9 a.m. meeting at 9:05) because I hate getting up early. But now, raising two early-bird children I am the queen of the 6:30 a.m. email and schedule interviews at 7:30 without a second thought, because I know I will be up and well into my second cup of coffee by then.
