Guilt seems to be all over Patricia Krentcil's face. The insanely tan 44-year-old woman was recently arrested for allegedly taking her 5-year-old daughter, Anna, into a tanning booth in New Jersey. The girl was seen at school with a sunburn, and classmates say she told them she "went tanning with Mommy." Teachers called authorities, and Krentzil was arrested on second-degree child endangerment charges.
According to NBC, Krentcil denies it, and she says that while she does take the girl (who has turned 6 since the incident) to the tanning salon with her, she doesn't let her get her own tan on. She just plays in the room while mommy bakes herself silly. The girl's burns supposedly were just a plain old sunburn, from the sun, and the whole thing was a misunderstanding.
I'm sorry but ... yeah right.
I don't want to believe that anyone would be insane/irresponsible enough to let a little girl tan. I would love to give her the benefit of the doubt; and let's face it, if she was "normal," we'd probably be outraged that the school and police were overreacting to a sunburn. However, the fact is she doesn't appear normal at all.

Based on the picture (and that's not just a particularly bad one above; check out the video below), she has a serious problem. I've never seen a person that unnaturally tan, and I live in Florida and have seen plenty of tan folks. This isn't your normal tan, so I don't think it's that big of a jump to think that someone who thinks that's okay would let her daughter to try it once. Of course, she's innocent until proven guilty, but there's not much she could do to look any more guilty.
Even if the girl did not in fact get into the booth, taking her to the salon to witness her mother's actions seems problematic. With all of the known dangers of tanning booths, it seems irresponsible at the least, and like a pretty clear sign she needs help of some kind.
Krentcil plead not guilty in court today, He trial is scheduled for June 4. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison and a $150,000 fine. It will be interesting to see if the judge can see past her tan, or if that will color the decision at all.
Here she is telling her side of the story. See what you think.
Do you think this mom is telling the truth or not?

If this doesn't say something about our "beauty" obsessed culture I don't know what does... people tanning themselves until they look like weather beaten leather, women starving themselves until they resemble skeletons, kids on Facebook dressed like strippers. Who determines what looks good and where does it end?
Does this woman not have a least one true friend to tell her how she looks to everyone else? She's hurting herself and it is sad. However, arresting her is ridiculous, and overreaching IMHO.
OMG.
She looks like a talking leather couch.
This coming from someone who has lived through days of baby oil and iodine, reflective tanning mats and countless blistering sunburns, I find it hard to believe that someone only 44 years old doesn't know any more than to think that this extreme tan looks good and is good for her. However, after seeing media coverage of her red haired, fair skinned child I have to hope that Mom knows better. I'm thinking she is judged because of her "freak show" image.
And I agree with the poster asking if she had at least
