Grandparents Arrested for Having Too Much 'Fun' With Grandchild & Her Hot Wheel

There are all sorts of grandparents in this world. There are those who are hands-on and try to bask in every minute of their grandchildren's life, and there are those who like the occasional visit, but would rather spend their time on the golf course. Then there are those who let the good times roll at all costs when they're in charge, like Paul and Belinda Berloni.

The couple, who lives in Florida (of course), was watching their 7-year-old granddaughter this weekend, and having a grand old time. Slinging back cocktails of some kind, they got inspired to have a little fun. So they tied the girl's toy car to the back of their SUV -- with dog leashes, nonetheless -- then set out on a joy ride ... with her in it.

It gets worse.

According to The Smoking Gun, their fun came to an abrupt halt Sunday when a sheriff saw them. He found the girl wearing just a bathing suit, with no helmet in sight. Not only that, he found both grandparents to be wasted, and that Paul (who was driving at the time) had no license, because it had been revoked for 10 years after a DUI.

They admitted they had been drinking all day, but didn't seem to see the harm in their little outing. Grandma, who was riding in the back “with the rear hatch open cheering the child on as she was being pulled behind the vehicle” told the officer she knew it was dangerous, but ... “they were just having fun and had been doing this all day.”

It's unbelievable on so many levels, not the least of which is that no one stopped them before the sheriff did if they were out there all day. The danger they put that little girl is outrageous, and they're lucky she wasn't hurt. At last report they were in jail for charges of child endangerment and driving under the influence.

Many of us chastise our parents for not following our rules when they watch our children. However, the next time you want to complain about them hopping your kids up with too much sugar or letting them stay up past their bedtime, just think of these grandparents and maybe give yours a little break.

Do your children's grandparents follow your rules when they watch your children?

The mother had to know what kind of people the grandparents were when she left them in charge, so I wouldn't give her a free pass just yet. I hate to think the mothers only option for childcare was reckless alchoholics.

Florida (of course)? What type of ignorant comment is that?

They made some terrible choices...

What does the author of this article mean by "who lives in Florida (of course)"..

I agree with teddysmama09.  We all know our parents very well.  I am glad that the little girl is alright.  During snowstorms I have seen people on the sleds attached to the back of the car.  I have no idea how old the kids were and who was driving.  It was a bit too risky for my taste.

Of course it would have happened here (in Florida). It's not a ignorant comment. A lot of stupid, stupid people live here. They occupy most of the state. It just seems to attract the stupid and the evil of the world. I can't wait to move away and never look back in the next year.

Um excuse me but wtf is the comment about them living in FL ? what does that have to do with anything? It's very offensive to me , as I was born in FL. There are bad people all over, in every city of every state. Only an idiot would make that comment like all bad people come from FL.
