You probably know at least one family affected by autism. Recent figures say one in every 88 kids have an autism spectrum disorder.
In Angie's family, the figure is two out of three...her son has Asperger's and one of her twin daughters has mild autism. But instead of asking "why me?" she's giving back to families like hers.
Angie volunteers for Autism Speaks, a nationwide organization that raises funds for research into the causes of autism and its treatment. Angie's hope is that someday there will be a cure for autism, and she's doing what she can to help that happen.
Pretty inspiring, no? It's not like Angie's got a lot of time on her hands. After all, she has three kids, and dealing with the special needs of just one child with autism can take up a lot of time, much less two.

Actually - I understand wanting kids to be "normal" but different wiring, isn't broken. it doesn't need cured.. I have a hard time with how words are used.... because they mean things and implying that being autistic is bad or your broken... it's offensive.
My child may not have autism but my younger brother does. It was hard o hear at first but then we started taking the proper steps to make sure he was in the right programs so that he could rise to his full potential. He is now entering his 5 year of clooege. So to any parent out there that have kids with autism don't panic, Maybe there ian't a cure or not much in te way of "treatment" as mosty ppl think of it. But there are ways to help your kid(s) Reach out and you will find ahnds willing to grab yours and help you out. It'not a d thing n fact i found my brother to me more amusing with his little quriks bc of the autism. No iwasn't laughing at him but his little quirks made me smile bc that is what made him who he is and to this day he doesn't care that he's autistic. We have all seen the commercial that says "One out of this amny kids has autism he looked up one day after that commercial and said "I guess I'm the lucky one" Autism doesn't mean not mormal only it takes a little longer. Besides here is something to consider if u believe in God or a higher power God gives special people special kids cuz they know what to do. I wouldn't trade my brother for another one as long as he likes himself thats all that matters.
