Apparently, there truly is an app for everything these days. Landon Crabtree, an 8-year-old boy from Tennessee, used an app to locate his stolen iPad, after the family home was robbed.
Now that’s a kid who really wanted to play Angry Birds.
The suspect, John Docherty, 46, stole two iPads, a computer, other electronics and a hedge trimmer then took it all to his hideaway; a motel only 4 miles away from the Crabtree home. I’m assuming that he had hopes of starting a high-tech lawn service. Too bad he didn’t have the foresight to go a little further way. I guess he’s never heard the saying, don’t shit where you eat?
Mr. Docherty may have been savvy enough to break into the home and remove all of the family’s electronic goodies but obviously he was no match for a tech-savvy 8-year-old. Hell hath no fury like a kid with no electronics. Perhaps, Mr. Docherty should have looked into an app to warn him that the cops were headed for his motel?
With the ingenuity and determination of Landon, it took the cops 30 minutes to take Mr. Docherty into custody. When cops searched his motel room, hundreds of stolen items were recovered. Seems Mr. Docherty was quite the busy thief. He would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for that tech savvy, meddling kid who is now safely playing Angry Birds on his recovered iPad.
Psst, Landon, what’s the name of that tracking app?
