Last week, we had a hell of a morning. The kids didn't want to wake up, they didn't want to eat their breakfast and they didn't want to brush their teeth. After arguing with them for an hour, I finally raised my voice. "When you're an adult, you can do what you want. Now you have to listen to me!!" My youngest widened his eyes and told me he couldn't wait to be an adult. I explained that being a kid is much more fun, and to enjoy it, but I couldn't help but agree. While I miss certain things about being young, there are things I love more about being a grown up. Things like these ...
1. If you want to eat cookies for breakfast, you can.
2. Nobody forces you to wear a jacket, hat and gloves.
3. You can stay up as late at you want to.
4. You can say "because I said so" and get away with it.
5. Nobody forces you to eat your veggies.
6. You get to pick your own friends.
7. Nobody makes you clean your room.
8. You can buy liquor for yourself.
9. You know what sex is and can have it.
10. You don't ever have to take another standardized test.
What's your favorite thing about being a grown up?

I'm too busy with the things i HATE about being a grown up that i never thought about the best part:
1. Have to pay bills, cant save your money
2. Have to clean house ( times out of 10 with no help)
3. yoiu need a drink, even tho you dont drink
4. You can't have cookies for breakfast if your kids are watching, cause its unfair
5. By the tinme the day ends you dont want to stay up any longer, your begging for the bed (by 10p.m.)
6. Either your too tired for sex, or sex is virtually impossible due to kids and/or your other half working messed up hours and being too tired
7. You cant leave your room a mess cause the wrong person comes over and wants to cause issues for you even tho it is YOUR ROOM.
I am a stay at hom mom, a writer, and im going back to school. I LOVE what I do. I Love my kiods even more. I guess my absolute favorite thing about being a grown up, is being a mom. and my favorite thing about being a mom is there are so many things i never did as a kid that i get to share with my kids as a first for all of us together. (ex. never been to : aquarium, a theme park, water park, etc..)
I enjoy being a grown up, it just isnt as cool as i thought it would be when i was a kid.
My fave thing about growing up is I can drive whereever and whenever I want to... and if I want to buy something "stupid", I have the money to do so and don't have to check it by anyone ;)
I loved being a kid though... got to play and read a lot more. BUT I wouldn't Not grow up for the world cuz then I wouldn't be MOMMY!
Well, except for the last three (sorta) all those are true for my children as well. I always enjoied standardized testing though, I always enjoied tests period! And since I have been being served and sold alcohol since I was 14 without any issue, and I no longer drink alcohol, that one doesn't really apply to me. I can have sex, which my children are to young for (myoldest is 5) but they know what it is, and I would generally prefer not to have sex, so I don't know that that's a good one anyways...
I don't get restricted from computer/video game time because I went pee/poop in my pants. (I have a 4 yr. old who gets "too busy" to go...) Reasons for this: 1) I don't go pee/poop in my pants, and 2) I bought the danged thing/pay for the 'net/pay the rent so that means I can do whatever I want. Which includes play video games, watch movies, and mess around on my computer any time.
Then there's always the best "because I said so" in the world... If nothing else, it'll redirect by getting a laugh: Because Mommy is a Really Cool Ninja! (or, because elephants aren't pink, or because my name is ''''. Or, anything could fill in the blank.

I love being an adult for the simple reason of not having to go to school anymore. Not having techers, and principals... No bullys... No preps, jocks, or band geeks... Adults are just people. big, tall, fat, skinny, dorky, or "jock" like... we are all people. and we all coexsist (at a bar). It doesnt matter who you are or where you were raised... at a moose lodge or an american legion... we are ALL just a bunch of drunk people having a great time... lol. And, i get to be the mom... i get to raise my child using my mothers mistakes and her great deeds as tools... expapnding on them. and Loving her for every minute she babysits... lol. and just being MOM. having DAD. being an adult is awesome! ((if only we didnt have to work... EVER))
My favorite is the last one...I HATED standardized tests!! I feel so sorry for my kids when they have to take them. The other nine are kind of over-rated...if someone would tell me to put the cookies down I prob wouldn't have all this extra fat on my butt ;)...and sex, you know, whatever.
