It's Mother's Day. And when you are a mother, even though you want all of the love and the relaxation the day can offer, it's important not to forget about the amazing mom that has been there for you, through thick and through thin.
I may be the one with young kids — which is definitely more stressful than having grown kids — but I am pretty sure my mom still worries about my brothers and I ... probably more often than she should! Ahhh ... the life of a mom.
So, this year, instead of telling the world my mom told me what a blow-job was when I was just 6 years old, I've decided to tell her the things I very rarely say ...
1. I love you. I love you. I love you. I know I don't say it enough.
2. People often ask me how is it, living with you and dad. Is it a pain? Do we fight a lot? And I tell them all the same thing. My kids are blessed to have their grandparents around them all the time and I love having live-in babysitters. (Come on ... who doesn't want to be able to run out to the 9 p.m. showing and not have to worry about finding and paying a sitter?)
3. I appreciate every single moment you spend with me and with my kids.
4. I think child services might be called on us if you continue chasing the kids around trying to pinch their butts.
5. I know you check-in with me to see if I can use some extra help, or if my hubby has to work late, before you commit to going out with anyone else ... and I realize not every mom does that. You have your own life but make me a priority in yours. Thank you.
6. You save me at least five bucks a day because every morning you've got a fresh pot of coffee waiting for me. Plus, waking up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee is fantastic.
7. I don't know how is it that you don't cook ... really ... at all? The yellow rice and roasted chicken you buy pre-cooked from the supermarket just don't count! Still, I'll take it after a long day at work.
8. I remember you sitting with me when I was little, teaching me how to spell all of those words that rhyme with "cat" and working on my letters. Now, watching you do the same thing with my kids, seriously makes my heart melt.
9. You have a better social life than I do and I am slightly jealous of that ... but that doesn't mean I want you to lecture me on how I can, in fact, improve my social life. I am happy. I am fulfilled. I am tired a lot just very busy.
10. We may not go out socially because, let's be real, we see enough of each other already! But, without a doubt, you are my best friend. You know everything there is to know about my day-to-day (to the point of utter boredom) and can read my feelings like no one else. Now go back and read number one again!
Happy Mother's Day!
Hope you are either with, thinking of, remembering someone special to you, or just enjoying the day in a way that is right for you.

This is so sweet! I teared up a little.
PERFECT! I lost my mom 3 years ago so this day is bitter-sweet. I have 4 great kids, and can't think of anything better than being their mom. Your words went straight to my heart. Because I grew up in a situation that had me leaving home for boarding school at the age of 14 ( lived in foreign country that had no school opportunity), and we did not have a close relationship, once I hit adulthood and they moved back to the States, we made up for lost time. I miss her terribly. If anyone out there reading this still has their mom, love her lik crazy, and let her know you do.
LOVE!
