14-Year-Old Forced to Work in Strip Club

A 14-year-old boy whose mother owned and operated a strip club in Oklahoma said his mother forced him to work there. His mother, Tammy Pennel, denies that she did, but is in a heap of trouble for a number of violations at the club where sex acts regularly took place on stage that her son watched.

Now, I don't know a ton of 14-year-old boys and certainly I think most should be protected and not forced to work anywhere, let alone a strip club, but I'm fairly certain that by 14, most boys have seen boobs. I'm also betting most have seen a nudie magazine or a porn DVD in which sex acts are committed.

I highly doubt this kid was THAT shocked by it. Would I allow my 14-year-old son to do it? Hell to the no, but I'm more concerned about the liquor and the late nights (he sometimes worked until 2 a.m.) than I am about the nudity.

Boys see boobs, they live. But boys shouldn't be forced to work when they should be doing their homework. They shouldn't be around alcohol and/or drugs late at night and they most certainly need to be sleeping at least 8-10 hours a night.

That is the part that gets me the most.

What do you think of this story? Do you worry about your son seeing nudity?

14 year old boys who want to see boobs want to see them on their OWN terms. You shouldn't assume that despite everything, the teen was enjoying himself somewhat.

This is awful! This isn't about a boy seeing a boob! It's about a minor being forced to watch adult sexual behavior!

Would you think this was ok if it was a girl??

As for this story, they broke the law so I'll mostly just leave it at that. (I do feel that the level of maturity of people varies from person to person, though, so using simple age-based laws to enforce moral issues is overly broad and unjust.) My personal view about nudity is that either all animals are more sexually mature than many humans are (as they have no difficulty accepting others the way they are: clothes or no clothes!), and/or it is our own ignorance and repressed views of sexuality that causes us harm - not nudity itself. Forcing or influencing someone to do or be subject to something that they do not consent to (whether it is sexual in nature or anything else) often causes harm, however - nudity itself only causes harm if one is so sheltered from the realities of life that they fear the human body for what it is - and that's something I think is really sad as we all have a body - there's no good reason for us to be ashamed of it. (To me the judgmental nature of others is NOT a good reason for us to hold negative views of the human body.) And I did some searching for any news reports on this (the mother's name is Tammie Pennel if you want to search for what I found on Google News) and one article on news9.com has a couple comments posted to it by her son. He said that unlike what was stated in the article he was not forced to work there, and that he's only allowed to work there when he doesn't have school the next day.

I think the fact that he saw that much tit is good for him. He won't be sneaking around and he won't be obsessed with getting a tit peek. But his mom sounds like a bitch making him work. If my mom had tried that crap I wouldn't have stood for it, no sirree Bob.

I think it is disgusting that she made her son work in a strip club and I hope that she faces a long time in jail to think about what she has done.

It isn't about him seeing a boob! It's about him being forced to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of adult drunken sexual behavior, and of the complete objectification of women, not to mention the alleged prostitution that's going on. How can he have a healthy view of adult sexuality when this is what he's being exposed to?

@Aimee , I agree 100%.  I have no issue with any child seeing nudity.  But sex is another thing.  What the strippers do is dripping with sex.  Showing a child (i.e. someone under 18) pornography is illegal.  Period.  Now if the boy was seeing breasts in the context of breastfeeding or just plain nudity, he wouldn't have these crazy expectations and thoughts about the female body and think they are just for his ogling/touching/etc.  Which they are, in a strip club setting.

Nudity is one thing, sexual acts another. Is it appropriate for a 14 year old to be exposed to sexual acts? No, in my opinion it's not. 14 is a long way from being mature enough to work in a strip club. Is a strip club the place to teach a 14 year old boy about sexuality, nudity, intimacy? Absolutely not. How this "mother" expects her son to grow up and value women as something more than sex objects is beyond me.

Agree with everyone.  Don't care if my kids see nudity, in the right context.  The strip club?  Not the right context.
