Is 'Jersey Shore' Appropriate for Middle Schoolers?

When you think Jersey Shore, you think 10-, 11-, and 12-year-old girls, right? It's totally appropriate for them to get all "Jersified" and hit the town? Am I right?

Of course I'm joking. MTV airs their new episodes of the salacious trash-fest at 10 p.m. for a reason. Jersey Shore is not made for sixth-graders -- or really anyone younger than 18. I am pretty sure last season, I actually watched The Situation penetrating someone.

So, it may come as a surprise that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi recently made over an 11-year-old in her image, replete with poof, hair spray, leopard print, and bronzer.

It's a little weird, to be sure. It's doubtful that the kid has even seen Jersey Shore, at least I hope she hasn't. That said, it's all in good fun and pretty entertaining. Besides, last year, toddlers were making their own version of the show.

If they can do it, so can the big kids. That said, I'm not sure how these people became so prolific that even middle schoolers know who they are. If kids really are watching the show, it's more worrisome. Some of the comments the guys make about women and their looks and how they treat them sexually are concerning.

I can appreciate the video for its humor, so long as the little girl in it stays far, far away from the show until she is old enough to get it for what it is.

Do you think the show is appropriate for kids?
