Should Mathletes Get a Slurpee to the Face?

Kim Conte

Thanks to Glee, being a high school nerd has gained mainstream appeal. The show paved the way for previously geeky a cappella singers to become the popular kids on campus. Are mathletes headed for a similar destiny?

A recent article in Wired seems to suggest as much. It details a high profile international coding competition in which mathletes invent and code their own algorithms (stay with me) in just five hours, and hails the United States' star mathlete, Neal Wu, as "the Tiger Woods of computer programming." See what I mean? Never before has it been so cool to be a dweeb. Anyone else see the potential for a Glee spin-off?
