A fight between two moms, and possibly others, interrupted a kindergarten graduation in Victorville, CA last week, and two moms were arrested.
Nice, moms, real nice.
The two moms who were later arrested -- Marina Vargas, 29, of Hesperia and Queiona Burt, 31, of Victorville -- allegedly got into a brawl during the kindergarten graduation at Puesta Del Sol Elementary School in San Bernardino County.
The fight ended up in a nearby field, but the women took off before police arrived. The cause of the fight was still being investigated. The two adults were later arrested, based on anonymous tips phoned into the sheriff's department.
As a consequence, no parents were allowed to attend the sixth grade graduation the next day.
Could you imagine if your mom got into a big scrap at your kindergarten graduation, let alone with another mom? How embarrassing.
Ever seen a fight break out at one of your kid's school event?

I THINK NOT ONLY THE FIGHT WAS OUTRAGEOUS, BUT THE DECISION TO NOT ALLOW PARENTS AT THE GRADUTATION THE FOLLOWING DAY IS UTTER BULLSH*T. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF ONLY THOSE TWO WOMEN WERE NOT ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE NEXT DAY, OR IF THE SCHOOL BANNED all PARENTS. WHAT???? IF I WAS ONE OF THOSE PARENTS...
LET'S JUST SAY IT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED THAT WAY!
I'M NOT A "ROLL OVER AND ACCEPT IT" KIND OF PERSON OR PARENT.
BAD DECISION ON THE SCHOOL'S PART.
II had just read about this story last Thursday and thought how terrible that must have been, and how could parents act that way. I then attended my daughter preschool graduation on Saturday and nearly got into an altercation with the mother of one of the other children also graduating. There was one child at the ceremony who was in tears the whole time. Probably from stage fright. Most everyone in the audience (about 400 people) felt bad for this little girl. Except for the idiot sitting behind me. I heard her making rude comments and making fun of this little 4 year old. Saying things like "Get her off the stage, she is ruining the whole ceremony!" It took everything I had inside me to not turn around and tell her to STFU! But I know this would have caused a scene not unlike this one in Victorville so I steamed silently. Some parents try to relive their youth through their kids. This woman obviously had no manners and etiquette and I feel sorry for her daughter that has to live with such a mean spirited mother.
that sucks to take it out on the 6th graders graduating without their parents present. At a school picnic a half riot broke out when I was about 10 or so betweeen some drunk parents...needless to say our school didn't have picnics for a coiuple a years and when they started them up again alcohol was banned...well duh!!
Alright, I know the caps are cute & stuff, but COME ON! What do kids in pre-k or kindergarten need GRADUATION ceremonies for? A graduation is a milestone, an event that marks a coming of age for young people leaving high school and entering a new life in college, or for college graduates entering the world of work and other adulthood pastimes. I cannot fathom that learning shapes & colors is a reason to justify the expense of of a tiny pseudo-graduation for children who honestly would be happier hanging out in their classroom eating cupcakes.
This trend of making a huge deal out of every little thing a kid does is not going to fill society with good people, it's going to nothing but self-centered twits who feel like they deserve a certificate for managing to show up for work on time every day.
yogapantz - I was going to leave the same comment! Seriously! Gotta think that a little party in the afternoon on the last day of school - such as I had growing up - is really all that is called for until you graduate high school.
Why do you think parents are so stressed out and busy? Little silly things like this that they are supposed to put aside work and dinner and everything else for. Perhaps the stress got to a few of them?
Stop the sillyness!
wow what an example to show the children. tsk poor kids its sad that they witnessed this.
LOL San Bernardino? Ooo big shocker... not. Not the classiest of areas...
According to the article below, the 6th grade ceremony was canceled. So, the sixth graders and their parents were denied a ceremony due to the brawling kindergarten parents. I would imagine these parents are all neighbors, since their children go to school together. It's going to be an interesting summer in their community...
