Bristol with son Tripp
Photo by Danielle LevittSingle teen mom Bristol Palin, in her recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, opens up about being pregnant and in the presidential campaign spotlight and about her new life as a single working teen mom.

Photo by Danielle LevittUsually when reporting on a single, working teen mom, the picture above doesn't come to mind; however, Bristol Palin, 19, is changing that whether we like it or not, potentially earning up to $30,000 per speaking event.
In the current issue of Harper's Bazaar, Bristol plays "big girl dress up" in a tea-party-themed fashion spread, which showcases gowns by Carolina Herrera, Lanvin, Isaac Mizrahi, and Michael Kors.
Here are a few quotes from her interview:
On the sex education talk that never happened: "It's not like we all sat down and were like, 'Alright, here's the birds and the bees.' Truly, my parents just assumed that I wasn't doing anything. And it was a shock for us all."
On being pregnant during the 2008 presidential campaign: "It was kind of humiliating ... Great, I'm 17 years old, I'm 40 pounds overweight with a big belly on me, all my friends are at school watching this on the news. This kind of sucks."
On taking responsibility as a working single mother (Bristol works as a medical assistant, serves as an ambassador for Candie's foundation, and fully supports herself and her baby): "I'm on my own. I'm really proud of it. I'm a hard worker.

Harper's Bazaar
June 2010"I don't have time for friends or anything like that. It's just like, 'Right, crap, there is a hockey game tonight that I want to go to but I can't.' Or, 'I do have to go to work today' because I've got bills to pay."
On dating: Bristol is not seeing anyone at the moment: "I'm in no rush. One day I'll find a nice guy."
On her son, Tripp: "I thought I would be somewhere warm at college with my friends, but that was definitely not possible with having Tripp. I love my baby more than anything. He's like a Gerber baby. He's the cutest baby in the whole world ... I just want Tripp to be happy and healthy."
Sarah Palin on her daughter, Bristol: "We're very proud of her for taking responsibility. It's not an easy road, but it's the right road. Decisions were made, and we can't unwind those decisions. Consequences are being dealt with. I'm sincerely proud of her."
This issue of Harper's Bazaar hits newsstands June 1. You can read the full story on Bristol Palin over on Harper's Bazaar.

Her son is really cute!!!!! (too bad his daddy seems to be a jerk)
I felt bad for her having to go thru all that crap in the press......
I dont care about Bristol Palin wow what a thing to become popular for being a pregnant teen!I Maybe she try a real teen mom's life and then we can talk!
I agree with fryshannon.
I'm pretty sick of hearing about all of the Palins, and Bristol's "baby daddy," too.
i may not agree with her choices, but do have to support her in that she is supporting herself and her child... which is more than some (note not all) teen moms can say for themselves. she is standing behind her choices, and as hard as it is, coming out on top.
sure... it brings light to teen pregnancy, but it's not something uncommon now days... why not have a "decent" roll model for teen moms to look up to... someone supporting herself, giving up friends and fun for her child, and not "dating" anyone right now...
I am glad she is taking care of herself and her son. she should be treated like any other teenage mom.
I also agree with fryshannon and tazdvl.
I pray to God she's a better momma than her own!
i good care less,lol
Great what's next Amy Winehouse is going to talk to my teen about saying no to drugs? She would be the last person I would pay to hear talk about teen sex. What a joke, like momma like daughter.
