Reading Lamps for Kids -- Cause Reading in Bed Rocks!

My 7-year-old is becoming a stronger reader every week. However, I keep waiting for him to hit that moment of complete reading bliss. I do know that his willingness to read on his own drastically improved when we got him a reading lamp -- the above Minnen Wall/Reading Lamp ($7.99) from IKEA -- and mounted it on the wall next to his top bunk bed.

Great ideas. My daughter loves to read in bed. Right now she uses her flashlight, and every once in a while, I'll pop into her room and find her cozied up to her nightlight on the wall, "sneaking" a read. A lamp is a much better idea.

I had a little one that clipped onto the bars of my bunk bed. Bright lights made it hard to read so we eventually discovered that you could get 4.5 watt bulbs. That's what I read by!

My dd has a light that hooks on to her book. It came with her Snuggie. I've seen her reading with that at night sometimes (under the Snuggie, of course!)

my girls, not yet old enough to read... but sure do like 'pretend' reading their books in bed LOVE the lamps we attached to the wall for them! it's too cute to send your 1.5 and 2.5 year olds to bed... they climb in with a book and 10 minutes later they are out!

I still have my clip light from college...LOL I've got a little guy but EVERYONE ENJOYS READING SOMETHING THAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN....find out their interest and then go find a book about it to give them ;)

We really need one that descends/hangs. And our 9 year old has absolutely got the reading bug. We often catch her up, past bedtime, reading. It's a hard aspect of parenting too because we don't want to say "no reading". Just sounds wrong ya know? LOL

My son was never a big reader until he discovered S.E. Hinton, the girls are to young but they like to pretend they are reading.
