This Mom Took a Nap at Her Kid's Soccer Game & Has Zero Regrets

When most moms think about what they'd like to do on the weekend, sitting at a kids' sporting event is last on the list. We love our kids and we want them to succeed, have fun, and make new friends -- we just don't want to be stuck on the sidelines of a tiny tot soccer field for four hours while they do it. That's why people are seriously LOLing after blogger Glennon Doyle Melton shared a photo of a mom who fell asleep on the sidelines at her kid's last soccer game of the year.

  • "I give you MY NEW HERO," Melton wrote on Instagram.

"Whilst all the other moms stood on the sidelines with great concern and worry and volume: this hero laid her body down on the ground, her head down on her purse, and her jacket over her face -- and napped," she added. "Every once in a while, the sideline would wake her and she'd raise her arm and say: yay. I love her. Her entire existence said: I'm showing up for my kid. But I'm not gonna pretend I'm not exhausted about it."

  • Can you say mom goals?

  • Of course, thousands of moms could relate. The photo already has over 33,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

"I have felt like doing this at so many soccer games," one mom wrote. So have we, honey. SO have we!

  • As another mom pointed out, sometimes this is just what #momlife looks like.

It's not that we don't love our kids and want to be there for them no matter what. We're just tired! And there's no shame in that.

  • And you know every mom was into the idea of napping instead of doing things we seriously don't want to do.

Chores? Um, no. It's nap time.

  • Melton herself seconds this approach.

"TO WOMEN WHO FREAKING REST WHEN THEY'RE TIRED. Let us know them. Let us raise them. Let us be them," she wrote on Instagram. "I would like to formally nominate this Soccer Mom Hero as the President of the Women Who Have Run Out Of Effs To Give Club. I will be Secretary in Charge of Meetings. There will be no meetings. I salute you."

Moms take a lot of shit for thinking about themselves. Just last month a mom was raked over the coals for skipping her daughter's assembly to go work out. But you know what? We matter too. This mom showed up. She did her part. And then she took a well-deserved nap. And this picture is a powerful (and hilarious) reminder to show ourselves a little TLC.
