Mom Dances With Her Disabled Son in a Truly Beautiful Wedding Video

People cry at weddings for lots of different reasons, but the guests at one recent nuptials had an especially good reason to get teary-eyed (and when you see the video, you'll be sobbing too!). The most special dance at UK mom Jo Atrill's wedding wasn't the first one she shared with her new husband, Martin -- it was the one she danced with her 13-year-old son, Alex Dieterle (pictured above with his caregiver), who suffers from cerebral palsy and has never been able to dance before.

The sweetest part of the story is how Alex made it to the dance floor for the very first time in his life: His brand-new stepfather spent the weeks leading up to the wedding "hiding upstairs in the spare bedroom with a needle and thread," constructing a very special harness which would allow Alex to dance even though he can't bear his own weight at all.

Awww, isn't that just the most unbelievably beautiful thing someone could ever do for their soon-to-be spouse? Especially considering that Jo said there have been many times over the past several years when she doubted if Alex would even be here to see her wedding day!

The video has been shared over 955,000 times so far -- and when you see it, you'll understand why! (Have tissues ready. Seriously!)

"To be there, at my wedding, to have a new family to be part of ... to be able to do something I'd never even contemplated, I'd say that was the best moment of my life ever, actually," Jo revealed to ITV.

Unsurprisingly, there was reportedly not a dry eye to be found during the song (Martin says he chose "Yellow" by Coldplay because Jo used to sing it to Alex when he was a baby). And of course, Martin was particularly emotional:

"To see Jo's reaction -- I struggled to stay upright when she started to cry," he told ITV.

"At one point I looked around the room and everyone was crying. Jo and Alex have such an incredible bond and it was just nice to do something that Jo never thought she would be able to do with him. What you don't see in the video is that once I've taken Alex out of the harness, I grabbed two of my best men and we collapsed on a heap on the floor in tears."

What an unbelievably moving moment it must have been! In just one dance, the profound and beautiful bond between this mother and son is so clear to see. As a mom of three, I can't even begin to imagine the challenges associated with raising a severely disabled child, but Jo is determined to give Alex as many amazing experiences and memories as possible while he's still here.

She and Martin are currently hoping to raise enough money to take him to Disneyland, but the trip would be extremely expensive because Alex requires a 24/7 nurse (it will cost over $12,000 to bring one along). While Jo and Martin were on their honeymoon, Alex became very ill with a virus and had to be resuscitated -- a reminder (or one of many, many reminders) to the couple that every single moment must be appreciated and lived to the fullest.

Of course, that's something all parents need to keep in mind! It's easy to lose sight of how special -- and, ultimately, how short -- our time with our children is in the chaos and stress of everyday life, but families like this one are such an inspiration to never lose sight of what really matters: Love and being together.

Donations can be made to the family's GoFundMe page here -- because if ever there was a kid who deserves to go to Disneyland, it's this one! Congratulations to this beautiful family.
