Mom Gets Real About Breastfeeding Toddlers -- & If You Don't Like It, STFU

Ashley Wright schools naysayers on breastfeeding a toddler

Breastfeeding has been a touchy subject for many people. Whether moms are nursing their children in public, or are doing some other "horrifying" task that deserves mean looks, not everyone is comfortable with seeing a mother breastfeed her kid. Well, if you're one of those people, this will likely piss you off. Ashley Wright's "Breastfeeding Toddler Myths" video takes a hard look at common misconceptions in effort to get naysayers to "shut the f*** up."

(Yeah, you already know how this is about to go down.)

Known as the "badass breastfeeding, babywearing, attachment parenting" mama, Ashley Wright is no stranger to controversy. This mom proudly nurses her 3-year-old daughter and wants to demystify all the reasons why people think doing so is bad.

"Breastfeeding a toddler is a lot of fun."

All right, Mom. I'll take your word for it.

Aside from loving the tea Ashley serves on her Ms. Wrights Way Facebook page, I really enjoyed this video, including all the adorable moments between mama and tot. Mom did a good job of trying to tackle all the negativity surrounding extended breastfeeding -- like poor socialization skills and delayed development -- to prove the choice to nurse your tot doesn't automatically mean doom and gloom.

As Ashley says:

If you're not nursing a toddler, if you have no idea what the f*** that is, just shut the f*** up.

And, unless you're coming over here to get a sample of this titty milk -- to do a scientific analysis on the nutritional content in it -- then just shut the f*** up.

*Mic drop*

I only nursed my 2- and 1-year-old boys until they were 11 months, but that's me. And while I personally wouldn't choose to breastfeed beyond a certain point, I'm certainly not going to throw stones at any mama who does -- or doesn't breastfeed.

It's just not that deep.

Whether you agree with extended breastfeeding or not, I think Mom's video is a reminder to do what you think is best for your baby.
