Woman Who Was Surrogate for Twin Sister Managed to Keep a Very Big Secret (PHOTOS)

The love siblings have for each other knows no bounds. When Allison Ardolino Dinkelacker, a cancer survivor, was faced with the heartbreaking reality she could never carry a child again, Dawn Ardolino Policastro had no problem becoming a surrogate for her twin sister.

As twins, Allison and Dawn share a unique bond that has been strengthened through tragedy. Thankfully this story has a very happy ending.

Get those tissues ready because you're going to need them.

In 2009, Allison was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Pregnant at the time, she quickly had to begin treatment and deliver her son at 31 weeks via an emergency C-section. Through it all, sister Dawn was with her every step of the way.

Fast forward six years and Allison remains cancer-free. With dreams of expanding her family, Allison met with her oncologist who told her she wouldn't be able to carry another child. Well that just wasn't going to fly with Dawn, who immediately signed herself up to become Allison's surrogate.

On August 5, Dawn gave birth to her sister's son that helped complete their family (Dawn has two children with her husband).

"Our new son Hudson William Dinkelacker has arrived and he would not be here if it weren't for my amazing sister!" Allison shared on Facebook. "How can we begin to thank you for the tremendous generosity and sacrifice you have so willingly bestowed these last few months?"

What's pretty amazing is how she was able to keep the gender a secret throughout her entire pregnancy -- even through a professional photo shoot!

There are not enough words to express how beautiful and touching this story is. So many families are faced with difficult situations that can overshadow the joys of being pregnant. "Not many people have the ability to make someone else's dream come true," adds Allison. "But you have done so, and with extraordinary thoughtfulness, openness and sensitivity." Now the twins can enjoy the married-with-children life just three blocks away from each other.

I'm so happy Allison and her husband were able to have the child they so desperately wanted. Their longtime friend Allison Rose was able to capture heartwarming images of the sisters' story through photography -- which they can use to explain their journey to their kids.

As a mommy of two boys, I would do everything I could to help my sister if she were unable to have a child.
