'Moms on Strike' Video Features Your Mother's Day Anthem

motherhood the musicalMother's Day is often that special time of year where you get a little card and some extra hugs, but no matter how hard we wish it all away all the grunt work is still there. Sometimes, even, the dishes may seem a little dirtier; the little ones, a wee bit brattier. Maybe the kids still want to play their videogames and ignore you and yet you still have to cook dinner and pick up the seemingly never-ending trail of Cheerios carelessly dropped all over the kitchen floor.

Not this year, mamas. What if we went on strike? Said screw it? These moms in this video did. I'm not cooking! I'm not cleaning! I'm going to blow up the washing machine! I'm done. I quit. I'm going on strike today. All sung to the tune of "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twister Sister. Check it out.

Ask not what your mommy could do for you; ask what you could do for your mommy!

Perfect sentiment; and it's all a great laugh. It's from Motherhood: The Musical which is touring the country now. And the main mom in the video is writer Sue Fabisch who has three kids (four if you count her husband, says her bio). The musical has four mom characters -- a working mom, a stay at home mom, a mom-to-be, and a single mom going through a divorce.

She kind of reminds me of Eddy from Absolutely Fabulous.

So are we going on strike today, moms? I am. Sort of. Just enough so I'm not making up for it the next day.

Happy Mother's Day!
