Dad Goes to Extreme to Convince Daughter That Ewoks Live Among Us (PHOTOS)

ewokIn my family, we don't do Santa. Or the Easter Bunny, the freaky Tooth Fairy, or any of that jazz. We spend plenty of time playing make-believe and my kids have fantastic imaginations, but I've always been honest about what's a story and what's not. Despite all that, I can't stop laughing at the dad who convinced his daughter Ewoks were real by editing their family vacation photos.

As Anthony Herrera says on his blog, this is what happens when your dad is a graphic designer (and a fellow Star Wars fan!). Check out the pictures!

Herrera says on his blog:

A year ago we took a trip to Sequoia National Park. I wanted to excite my daughter while being in such amazing surroundings. Being the Star Wars geek that I am (so is she), I told her that this is where the Ewoks live. She spent a good chuck [sic] of our time hiking keeping a lookout for any Ewoks.

Needless to say, she didn't see any Ewoks. So, being an awesome father skilled with photo editing, he took it upon himself to prove to her that even though she didn't see them, they saw her.

Do you see it back there? He did a great job, right? Check out this one amongst the giant Sequoia trees:

What a fun dad! I have to admit I personally would end up telling her (eventually!) that it was a joke, but that's just me. However, that didn't stop him from getting some weird and negative comments on his blog, from "destroying his child's confidence" to "screwing her up" and even saying things like this are responsible for all the nutters out there. Ooooookay? Just like with Santa and things like that, I'm of the "live and let live" belief. I really couldn't care less what other people do, just really hate that people insult either side for it. Come on, everyone just has fun, no matter how they do it, whether they're comfortable with the full out story or not, kids are going to end up happy with the time spent with their families and fun stories, whether they're told they're real or not.

I personally smiled when Herrera wrote that if she does ever feel like he lied to her, he doesn't care ... after all, it's a memory she'll never forget. Vacation with the Ewoks! I wish I could give this dad an Awesome Award. I'm thinking an all-expenses paid trip to the Forest Moon of Endor?

Have you ever tricked your kids like this?
