My Toddler Looks Like the Boy from 'Pet Sematary' and It Scares Me

My husband and I love horror movies almost as much as we love each other. In fact, it is this shared love of all things macabre that drew us together in the first place.

We have made being scared a lifestyle choice. Every Halloween (my husband's birthday) we throw a creepy party, dress up like monsters and run around scaring people. Our daughter is named Samara, not exactly after the scary girl in the movie The Ring, but we were not too upset when we discovered it.

This is all a long way of saying we have always loved being scared. Until now.

My toddler son looks like the little boy in Stephen King's Pet Sematary and it totally. Freaks. Me. Out.

For those not familiar with the movie, a quick recap:

The Creed family moves to Maine from the big city. They are introduced to a neighbor who shows them a pet cemetery and just beyond, the Indian burial ground where the dead come back to life. After the family suffers a tragedy.... **Spoiler** when they lose their toddler son, the father buries him there and disaster ensues.

Of all King's books, he always cites this as the scariest. After all, it is every parent's worst nightmare.

I have watched the movie 10,000 times. It has always been a favorite. But now it literally causes me nightmares because my son is identical to this evil, murderous toddler.

At first I thought only my husband and I noticed this, but soon it became apparent that anyone who remembered the movie (it came out in 1989) said the same thing. A few weeks ago we were at a party where one woman got so freaked out, she insisted on taking his photo.

My son:

Gage Creed:

Why can't my son look like the cute kid from Jerry Maguire? Or Macaulay Culkin? Why does he have to look like the kid who gets smashed by a truck so tragically and then comes back to life and kills his mom?

Is that so much to ask?

Honestly, it realy creeps me out.
