People always consider buying toilet paper, gummy bears, and mustard in bulk, but rarely do they consider purchasing one of summer's greatest necessities in large, bargain-priced quantities. Nope, not talking about relish (although I like where your head's at), I'm talking about sunglasses.

I'm of the belief that expensive sunglasses are for IDIOTS. I learned that lesson the hard way after I left hundreds of dollars worth of eye wear at the gym, at the pool, in the ocean, and on tops of cars that have been driven off. And if I'm being honest, I've also left 'em at a Popeyes or two. Pricey sunnies are not worth the money. Now, I solely buy cheap pairs and use 'em til I lose 'em. Even after all is said and done, I'll only have spent about $30 all summer, which is way better than $300.

So! To get the ball rolling, I've pulled 10 awesome pairs of shades under $20 that you should buy asap.

When you find a good pair of sunglasses, you stick with 'em. For me, I'm obsessed with my Ray-Ban Wayfarers. For Kourtney Kardashian, she can't get enough of her Tom Ford Nikita Cat Eye Sunglasses. Next to those black knee high boots, these puppies have got to be her fave accessory. She's been spotted wearing them everywhere lately!

I love the way that they accentuate her cheekbones, and adore the 1950s vibe they give off. I totally want a pair! The only problem? Kourt's beautiful shades cost a pretty penny. Well, a lot of pennies. A cool $360, to be exact.

Not to worry though -- I've found a whole slew of look-alikes that should do the job just fine. Check 'em out:

First, there were the necklaces made from human hair that resembled "fancy chest hair" fit for Lady Gaga, but made our skin crawl. Now, there are sunglasses that are also made out of real people's tresses. But before you envision hairy specs that actually LOOK like they're made out of someone's real live mane, think again! The glasses made by Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves, of the UK's Royal College of Art, don't really look all that strange or creepy.

Murakami and Groves (aka Studio Swine) say the world's "abundant" supply of human hair inspired them to use locks to create 100 percent biodegradable frames. They're made by binding hair to natural resin, so I guess that's how they achieved the "Hey! I could totally see these belonging on Nicole Richie's face" look. Studio Swine also notes how the "booming production of hair extensions can be expanded beyond the beauty industry to make other commodities that are equally desirable."

I love, love, love Katie Holmes' outfit in this shot --

It provides picture-perfect proof that mixing in a few trendy pieces (dark wash flares and an orange bag) with things you already own (a denim shirt, low-heeled neutral shoes and cute scarf) can make you look like the A-lister mom that you are deep inside.

This is a perfect Mom Uniform, particularly for those of you who aren't a fan of dresses and want to spotlight your legs and hide your mummy tummy.

Need some ideas on where to find the pieces of this outfit that you don't already have in your closet?

Read on for some affordable options!

My older sister taught me how to roller skate. It was 1988 and we'd go every Monday afternoon to the local community center for a little old-fashioned free skate. She in jelly bracelets, me in a hand-me-down cotton jumper, we'd skate around in circles to tracks like "True Blue" by Madonna, "So Emotional" by Whitney Houston, and anything by INXS or Michael Jackson. The rec room was a swirl of neon as girls from kindergarten to high school jammed out on their eight wheels.

Can you tell I'm a little nostalgic for the good old days? I haven't roller skated in 15 years, but I still think about how much fun it was ... and how much fun the fashion was. Part 1980s, part sporty, and part unhinged, you could get away with almost anything on the roller rink floor. In honor of this near extinct tradition, I bring you the best roller-skate inspired looks for the summer of 2011.

Found the perfect pair of summer shades yet? If you're like me, you wind up breaking any pair you pay more than $20 for, but still covet the designer specs. Which means I need a really, really good reason to invest in stylish sunglasses. TOMS just gave me two.

Yes, TOMS of the "must-have" comfy shoes. This California company, which has covered just about every foot in my neighborhood, has branched out to take care of your eyes as well. Only instead of just launching some cool looking shades, TOMS paired their new product with a mission called One to One. For every pair of TOMS sunglasses you buy, TOMS will give the gift of sight to someone in need. Whether that means glasses, or surgery, or any other kind of medical treatment, TOMS is taking care of the world's vision one person at a time.

This is why I felt good about wandering into my local TOMS store that features One to One, and felt even better once I tried on a pair of these sexy shades.

    Good news, girls!

You can get in on one of the hottest trends of spring and summer for $25 or less.

Retro sunglasses are super hot right now, and while you can go luxe with expensive Audrey Hepburn-style cat eye sunnies, you can also buy a pair of neon pink sunglasses from a convenience store and be equally on-trend.

Check out these fantastic heart-shaped sunglasses (Singer 22, $22), for example. I think I had a pair of these in 1985, but I'd totally wear them again today.

Yes, this season, when it comes to sunglasses, the crazier and more colorful, the better.

Click through to see more fantastic options that fit every budget, and then tell me in the comments if you'd wear a pair of retro sunglasses.
