Logan Black is a veteran soldier who is doing everything in his power to finally become the proud pet owner of a dog named Diego, whom he met while on his tour of duty in Iraq back in 2006 & 2007.

The lovable yellow lab worked in Iraq as a bomb sniffing dog, and developed a very close bond with Black while they were looking for weapons and bombs together. They were absolutely inseparable -- to the point that they even shared the same bed on some nights. Diego wound up remaining in Iraq with another handler after Black returned home, and he's missed his little friend ever since.

They definitely served as a source of comfort to each other, and now he is hoping they can be reunited, so that Black can officially adopt Diego as his own pet.

When an animal rescue worker in L.A. found a homeless cat & her five kittens who were dirty & malnourished, it wasn't a huge surprise when she started hissing and trying to protect her babies. Somehow the worker managed to rescue the poor cat & her litter -- and when they arrived at the animal center, doctors realized this mama was much more protective than they initially thought.

When they took a closer look at her matted fur, they found out the cat had been shot in the head with a BB gun, and wound up with a BB lodged behind her ear. (O.M.G! Who does something like that to a helpless animal?!)

But that's exactly what happened when a woman in Michigan found a baby robin in her backyard and decided to take care of him until he was strong enough to survive on his own. She called the bird "Peeps," and at first, she was pretty worried about her cats getting a hold of him.

These poor scrawny little dogs. They are completely limp when the firemen bring them out. The owner seems a little pushy at first, demanding, "Did you get my dog out?" But he's just worried about his pets. See what he does when he sees how far the firemen will go to save his dogs.

Owners of a farm dog in Ghana feared that their beloved pet had gotten lost or injured when he didn't return home at the end of the day, so they organized a search party to look for him. They wound up looking for the pooch for a better part of the night -- and got the shock of their lives when they finally located him, because he wasn't alone. Lying next to him was an abandoned newborn baby who'd been "disposed of" sometime shortly after his birth. (How could any parent do such a thing?)

The poor infant still had his umbilical cord attached, which had gotten infected while he was left in the woods to die. And he very likely would've had a tragic ending to his story if this amazing dog hadn't cuddled up next to him all night to keep him warm.

Have you ever heard your dog bark or howl -- and been convinced that he was actually trying to talk to you? It may sound kind of crazy to people who aren't dog lovers, but there are dog owners who swear their pets can talk and imitate human beings. And I guess it only makes sense that our furry friends would pick up our language after being with us 24/7, right?

Heck, even Kristen Stewart thinks her dogs are doing more than just barking when they try to communicate with her. (Maybe it's because of the whole werewolf thing?)

I don't care how tough or unemotional a person is -- no one can resist "ooing and aahing" at least a little bit after seeing adorable animals cuddled up together for a cozy snuggle. There's something about seeing them in such an innocent and vulnerable state that can make even the most macho personalities feel all warm and fuzzy.

There's nothing more heartwarming than seeing the brave men and women of our military reunite with their families when they return to the U.S. -- and seeing their reunions with their pets is just as emotional and sweet. (Pets are family too!)

U.S. staff sergeant Nick B. just reunited with his beloved dog, Bodhi, but their story is a little bit different, because this time -- Bodhi is the one who came home to the United States. You see, Nick actually found Bodhi in Afghanistan when he was just a puppy, and at that point he was hungry, dirty, and his ears and part of his tail had been cut off (horrible!) -- as he was being used for dog fighting.

Nick rescued Bodhi after trading him for packs of cigarettes (seriously?) and they were inseparable from that point on. Well, that is until it was time for Nick to return home.
