Out of all the women who have extra time and money to splurge on getting regular manicures and pedicures, you'd think it would be Madonna. And you'd also expect someone with an A-list status like hers to know better than to put on a pair of open-toed shoes without making sure that her feet are in picture perfect condition. (Um -- hello, Madge? Photographers have a knack for focusing in on the slightest imperfection.)

Check out this photo of Madonna wearing peep-toe shoes, and showing off some very nasty toes at an event to launch her new Truth or Dare fragrance in New York City last week. Her toenails are way overdue for a clipping, and they also appear yellow, leaving me to wonder if the Material Girl has some sort of fungal infection going on. (So gross!) What on earth was she thinking by stepping out with un-pedicured feet?

Who doesn't like getting their nails did? It's relaxing; it's affordable "me-time" at its best; and when everything is said and done, you've got 10 works of art on your hands. But, did you know that, in your quest to relax and look fly, odds are you're putting seriously toxic crap on your body? Even if you think you're not. New tests just discovered toxic substances -- to the tune of formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) -- in whole mess of nail polishes ... nail polishes that were actually labeled "toxic free."

Now that The Hunger Games is a bona fide hit, you can bet that fans of Katniss wil be going crazy trying to find Hunger Games-related merchandise.

OK. I know the phrase "caviar manicure" doesn't sound that great, but trust me, it's anything but disgusting. An English company called Ciate has come up with this 3-D idea for nail polish and, my oh my, me want. Me want right now. It's coming to all Sephora stores next month (woo hoo!), so in a matter of weeks, we'll all be walking around with colorful little balls on our nails.

It looks pretty easy to apply, which is also great. All you gotta do is paint, shake, and set, and in about 15 minutes, your nails will look like those Sno-Cap candies that no one buys at the movie theater. Yum!

It's been a few months now since we first heard about the Runway to Win collection, a whole slew of products from a flock of big name designers who are showing their support for President Barack Obama during his reelection campaign. Now, there's another gem to go along with the gems from designers like Anna Wintour, Alexander Wu, and Tory Burch. Except this time, we're getting a little more fancy. Ladies, I'm talking politically inspired nail polish. I know, remain calm, I was excited too.

The Obama campaign has thrown down a whopping $10,000 on the new line of nail polish, designed by Richard Blanch of Le Metier De Beaute. The turnaround? For a casual $40, you can be one of the lucky ladies to own all three patriotic colors AND a collectible bag. Shootie!

OK, I'll admit it. I love Obama. But um, who's going to know that you're rockin' a democratically endorsed manicure if there's nothing exciting or, you know, branded about it? Isn't that half the fun?

I am obsessed with Shellac manicures. Every other week, I head into the salon and get my nails buffed, filed, and polished, and for the next two weeks, they are perfect, unchipped things of beauty. Now, it seems I may have to stop. It turns out gel manicures may be bad for us.

It isn't the chemicals, though, that make these shiny, instantly dry manicures possibly dangerous to our health. It's the UV lamp used to cure the polish that is suspected of giving some women skin cancer on the back of their hands.

As a person obsessed with this manicure, I have to say I knew this day would come. It was almost too good to be true. But also, people: Duh. How could we not know this was bad for us? See the process below:

Finally, what we've all been waiting for: Santorum nail polish. I'm not kidding, it's out there, ladies. And you know you want it. Or at least I do. How better to celebrate the Republican primaries -- oh wait, you know what? This nail polish actually has nothing whatsoever to do with presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

Nope. This nail polish is about the other "santorum" -- the one you learn all about when you Google his name. And that's why the polish is a lovely matte brown. Gross! And yet, I kind of love it.

It's not possible to be tired of Adele yet, is it? Good! OK so we've already talked about how her Grammy performance was incredible and about how fab she looked, but we haven't yet delved into the nitty gritty. I'm talking about her nails, of course. The zeitgeists over at Styleite are calling her mani the Louboutin Manicure because, you see, the underside of her nails were painted red, and the tops were painted silver. Get it? Like a Christian Louboutin shoe? Red soles?

She may be paying homage to one of the most well-known shoe brands on the planet, but Adele's manicure also looks extremely dangerous. Clearly she's more than just a gorgeous face with a beautiful voice, she's a nail art renaissance woman who could slice your throat with one flick of her perfectly painted dagger nail. Shwing! You're dead.
