There are two models making headlines this week for things other than wardrobe malfunctions, their alleged "diets", or their hot actor boyfriends. Victoria's Secret model and Columbia graduate Cameron Russell, 25, readily admits she won the genetic lottery, but insists modelling isn't a career to be admired. Another Victoria's Secret model, 21-year-old Kylie Bisutti, just announced she's stepping away from modelling lingerie because of her ever-growing Christian convictions.

These women represent a recent uptick in a fashion industry backlash, and thank goodness they're speaking up.

Supermodel Kate Upton snagged the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for the second year in a row -- but maybe she wishes she hadn't. The buxom blonde has revealed how posing for hours out in the subzero temperatures in Antarctica gave her frostbite. And that her body began "shutting down" and she temporarily lost her hearing and eyesight. Woah! That's absurd! All for a silly bikini shot?!

How many times during any given week do you look in the mirror and criticize your appearance in one way or another? I won't lie, I do it several times a day, because most of the time I just don't feel I live up to the standard of beauty ingrained in my mind.

But after hearing about a woman with breast cancer who is hoping to change the way women see beauty once and for all, I can't help but feel pretty darn shameful for not appreciating and accepting the way I look, even if I don't think I come close to measuring up to what society deems as beautiful.

At just 35, Jill Brzezinski-Conley has already endured breast cancer, had a double mastectomy, went into remission, and is now suffering from stage-4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones -- and it's incurable.

The Kardashians' lil' sis, Kendall Jenner, may be all of 17 years old, but she already seems to have a pretty sweet modeling career going. She's actually been signed with the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency since she was just 14 and has done runway modeling in addition to print. And while she's gotten her fair share of attention for not only being a talented model, but for being related to Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe, no one's ever really flipped out over any of her gigs. Until now.

Kendall is suddenly getting lots of attention for a photo she recently posted to Instagram from a shoot she did for the April issue of the Australian magazine Kurv. The buzz may have something to do with the fact that in the pic, she appears to be wearing nothing but a messy hairdo and black paint around her neck and collarbone.

Have you seen Kate Upton's "leaked" Super Bowl ad? She's hot in it! I know, shocker, right? In the sneak peek for the ad (yes, there are commercials for commercials), the Sports Illustrated model can be seen standing around and generally being sexy while a bunch of dudes hand wash a Mercedes in slow-mo. An old spin on the classic, eh?

But one thing Kate's got going on in the ad really caught my eye. I have a feeling it may start a massive beauty trend, because, really, it couldn't be easier.

As we get closer and closer to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie finally being cast, yet another somewhat unknown actress has popped up on the radar screen as a potential Anastasia Steele -- and she just might be the right person for the role.

At 24, she's the right age. And she's a brunette with gorgeous eyes, a soft-spoken voice, and a seemingly innocent demeanor that still has a certain level of mystery beneath it.

I know what you're thinking -- plenty of actresses fit that exact profile, right?

But how many Anastasia contenders do you know who have a little something extra going for them -- like having the perfect name to go along with the role?

Ok, ok, enough suspense. Warm Bodies star Analeigh Tipton is interested in playing Anastasia Steele -- a role she thinks of as "brave." 

Seriously, it's kind of infuriating. Not that I begrudge '90s supermodel Stephanie Seymour's seemingly ageless body, it's just that it's maddening how it defies time, logic, and gravity. Is she some sort of wizard? Seymour, who's allegedly 44 in human years but clearly 24 in wizard years, was spotted this holiday looking insanely good in a bikini, and now, she's at it again looking unfairly flawless in her new ad campaign for Jason Wu.

When you go out to check the mail today, don't be surprised if you find the 2013 Victoria's Secret Swim cover model, Candice Swanepoel, waiting to greet you and give you a firm reminder that bikini season is just around the corner.

I know, I know. The holidays just ended, and there's snow everywhere and it's freezing and the last thing you want to think about is putting on a bathing suit.

That's how I always feel when that catalog shows up. I usually take one look at the stunning cover model with her picture perfect body, cringe, breathe in a deep sigh, and then toss it straight into the trash because it makes me feel so bad about the way I look. (Ugh. The mere thought of wearing a two-piece right now gives me the heebie-jeebies.)
