The true definition of Hat HairEver heard of a  face-kini? Neither had I ... 'til a few days ago. It's basically a bikini, but for your face, and this mask is all the rage in coastal parts of China. Yup, definitely not making this up, folks. Though it seems a little silly, the 'kini cover-up is the Shandong province's answer to sunburn. Women wear it to keep away those hot rays. Clever.

Buuutttt it's also pretty creepy. Ok, like really freakin' creepy. Don't get me wrong -- I'm all for proper sun protection -- but this? Too far. How would you recognize friends? Your child? And doesn't it get super HOT up under there?

My fellow Americans, we're victim to the weird accessory craze too. It's, like, home of the free, land of the silliest head gear. Our reigning leader? Lady Gaga.

May the 4th is "May the Force Be With You" day -- otherwise known as Star Wars Day -- although some purists only celebrate on May 25, which was named Star Wars Day by Los Angeles County to commemorate the original movie premiere date for Star Wars. In any case, whether you celebrate Luke, Leia, Han, Yoda, Darth, and all the rest today or later in the month, the beloved galactic series has its very own day, and that's reason to get gussied up in your best geekery.

So what are you going to wear to all the Star Wars Day festivities? We have some out-of-this-world ideas. Take a look!

The newest trend in all the fashion magazines is super sexy -- black lace masks. Claudia Schiffer looks absolutely gorgeous while sporting one on the cover of German Vogue. Katie Holmes dons one in the August issue of Vogue Espana and looks equally stunning. The vampy-meets-dominatrix look was even spotted on the runway at Chanel's Fall 2011 couture fashion show earlier this month.

The look is so eye-catching because it's both seductive and mysterious -- ooh la la! But there's just one teeny tiny problem with this hot new trend ...

Would you wear this hat to meet the queen?

Designer Katharine Hamnett did, and I just have to ask:

As a self-proclaimed "elder-phile," I was -- to borrow a phrase from my grandmother -- beside myself to learn that the handbag the Queen carried to Kate and William's royal wedding has fashionistas a-flutter. Handbag sales at Launer of London, who designed the Queen's one-of-a-kind bag, have jumped 60 percent, with the accessory hungry devouring similar styles. Its popularity is somewhat surprising, considering the bag is -- even by old people standards -- pretty fugly. It's cream, it's boxy, and, well, that's about it. But like I said, I love anything that makes me feel like I should be playing pinochle and sipping a Tom Collins, so here are five trends that'll have you running out for the Early Bird Special in style.

It could be argued that the real show stealer at William and Kate's big wedding last week was Princess Beatrice's hat.

The hat, which looked more like grandma's picture frame had been super-glued onto Beatrice's forehead, has spawned hundreds of Photoshop treatments, posts, and harsh news reports.

Well now, Philip Treacy, the hat's designer, is speaking out.

So, the day is here, and amidst all of the gorgeous, HD royal wedding coverage, we've finally gotten to see Kate Middleton Catherine Elizabeth Middleton Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Duchess of Cambridge's fabled wedding dress, designed by the head creative director of the House of Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton. And, the verdict? Everyone is in LOVE. I am in love! The dress was the perfect hybrid of modern and traditional (a nod to the dress Grace Kelly wore in 1956).

Even though I swore up and down just days ago that ripoff versions of the dress would be repulsive, I have to say that if this design inspires others, that would be more than okay. The world could use more classy, gorgeous, lacy-beautiful creations like Kate's "frock" (adore when Piers Morgan used that word!). Of course, I also loved the 1936 Cartier halo tiara, which was Catherine's "something borrowed" on loan from Queen Elizabeth ...
