I'm a nail polish girl, but I haven't done them in ages since I was pregnant and now nursing. It's not that I haven't had time (though I really haven't), it's that I'm just so much more aware of the chemicals in everything.
Did you know there are chemicals in a lot of polishes that are banned for use in Europe?
I realize I need to think about all these things more...and so whenever I polish my nails, I'm using one that is toxin free. Luckily there are a lot of eco-friendly (and people-friendly) polishes on the market.
Glamorous Cosmetics, the European brand now in the US, sent me some colors from their new line of Supreme nail polishes and they are free of toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde -- all the yicky stuff.
I'm wearing the Golden Yellow right now and I love it. Well, only on my thumb, but that's because I haven't had time to finish the rest. But it did dry super fast. I love light colors on my hands...and funky crazy colors on my toes. I usually chicken out though and paint the toes red.
There's a special sale right now and the polishes are $7.05 each at Glamourous Cosmetics.
Do you pay attention to the chemicals in nail polishes? What color do you like to paint your nails?

I love bright funky colors for summer. Once I have a tan a nice bright orange or a hot pink are always great if I am wearing white!
I have actually been using the Piggy Paint that you guys told me about on here and I love it. It does not stay on as long as the chemical type of polish but I love the colors. Plus I also buy their remover. I am going to have to look into this kind as well.
Oh and after becoming a Mom, I can't tell you how many times I have walked around with only my thumb polished. My friends at work would always make fun of me!
:)
I was going to buy some Piggy Paints for Aurora. I'll look into this too. I want to paint my nails (and Aurora's when she's big enough to ask for her nails to be painted) and I'll definitely look into these. Thanks Michele!
i love dark colors for the winter and ligther shades fro the summer, i still have yet to try a bright red nail polish either on my toes or fingers =-/ nail polish really stink in reality, i have yet to find one that does not makes the room so smelly when you open it =-/
Rana, you have to be sure to follow the directions on the piggy paint to get it to stay on nails longer. It really does not stay on like regulary polish does but it is nice and great to know that it is as safe as mud. Plus if you become a fan of theirs on FB you can get discounts every month.
Already a fan so I see all the sales. Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure I read the bottle well. :)
I love painting my nails and I never pay any attention to see what's in the polish. When I'm buying polish I usually go for color and I have alot of bright, lights and dark colors.
Hi!
Are these eco-friendly polishes only available for purchase online?
